In an alleyway far from where they were, Lyle sat against a wall eating some bread and drinking a little water. His shirt had holes and his jeans were worn out, but he didn't really care about himself at that time. At least until someone walked down the alley way towards him and began making their presence known.
"Lyle it is too dangerous to stay here," Iris begins to speak, "I would be better if I was here to protect you". "I know, I know, you've been telling me this," Lyle calls back. He knows Iris wants to help him, and knows that Iris wants to be in the real world. He wants the best for her since she is his best and only friend, but she can be a bit overwhelming in Lyle's opinion.
But it kinda makes since, in the city of Fara(more like most cities in this world), there are robots, lasers, criminals trying to get you.
The only people that help are the police, thought they usually protect the rich, and vigilantes, though being a vigilante is illegal. Lyle stays out of trouble most of the time, and Iris looks out for him. Like a friend.
Lyle finishes his bread and water so he leaves the alleyway. As Lyle walks to his home, the orphanage, he wonders how he was even able to obtain such good food. In this world most plants are gone so most food is severely processed. The loaf of bread Lyle had eaten could be worth $100 in the city of Fara.
Lyle walks into the orphanage with the same thoughts as always, "There's too many kids here,". Most people can barely provide for themselves in this world so they immediately set the child up for adoption. Lyle is lucky that he finds his own food since the food in the orphanage isn't what people call "fine dining".
Lyle walks to his room in the orphanage with relative silence. His room number is 214, so he walks up the stairs. His room is small, with a cot and a desk with a lamp. Most of the paint on the walls has been peeled off. Bjt that's normal in the world in general. The abnormal thing in Lyle's room is parts for a robot,

Iris's nagging had caused Lyle to come up with a plan. Even though he was 16 Lyle was very intelligent. With the help of Iris he was making a robot that could house her AI, and then she would be happy and roam free.
Lyle had almost no money so he stole things (that's how he got the bread) and did odd jobs. Most of those jobs was him being a mechanic fixing broken machines and robots. So if he could fix a robot he could make one, or the skeleton of one. He's only been caught stealing one time, and he was caught by a vigilante. The vigilante was called Mr.Mystery, he spent most of his time solving crime then stopping them, so the encounter probably left them both confused. Beside Lyle only stole a metal plate so got warning.
Now Lyle took the robot out from the box he put it in to see what he was missing. He was missing a lot. He basically needed to find material for the entire upper body, which would be difficult. But Iris seemed so desperate to ecaspe at times and he would do anything for his only friend.
