The next morning around seven fifteen, Lukas was driving me to school when he broke through the silence of the car, "Yao is a good man, Emil, but beforehand hand I'm going to tell you about his brother, the kid that will be new in your class. His name is Leon Xiao Chun. They call him Li."
I listened silently as Lukas began his big speech on this 'Li', but I did not have the slightest idea why he would start one about him. If Yao was a good man, Li had to have been raised the same.
Lukas' silence indicated that he was waiting for my say to continue, so I spoke out, "Go on. I'm listening."
I could hear Lukas shifting his hands on the wheel. He inhaled a bit deeper than one normally would. His thick Norwegian accent filled my ears.
"Li is trouble." Was all he said. I blinked in surprise. That was it?
"Okay..?"
"I don't want you around him, okay? He's bad news. You understand, don't you?"
I sighed, "I understand perfectly." That meant I wouldn't be making friends with the new kid. Though I highly doubted he would have been friends with me anyway.

"Shoulder length brown hair." Was all my friend Lily had. I chuckled and responded, "Good description."
"Oh, hush. If it helps, most of the girls are swooning over him." With that, I let a giggle.
"Swooning, huh?"
"Ja. It's quite entertaining." Lily mumbled, tapping her pencil on her desk boredly.
"What are you two whispering about back there?" The teacher, Mr. Beilschmidt, boomed. I knew it was directed towards us.
"The last lesson we discussed. I couldn't remember it." I responded smoothly. I hated lying, I really did, but I didn't want Li to know it was he that we were discussing.
"That is acceptable, but we will be going over it once again." Mr. Beilschmidt said.
"Why is that kid wearing sunglasses inside?" A new voice spoke up with a Cantonese accent. Li.
Whispers errupted throughout the class. I sighed. This happened every time we had a new student in the class. It was quite annoying.
"He will tell you when he is ready, but for now, it is his business, mister." Lily piped in. I patted her hand gratefully.
"But what if I want to know?"
"He will tell you when he is ready." Lily retorted, becoming slightly annoyed. I chuckled.
"Ja, well, Leon take your seat."
"It's Li." I heard the shuffle of feet draw nearer to me, and that's when I remembered the only available desk was behind me. Crap.
I ducked my head until he was seated, then blankly stared at the nothingness I saw in front of me.
"So are you a trans*?" Li whispered in my ear.
"Excuse me?" I frowned and turned my head to face him. "I asked if you are a trans. You look like a girl, but that little blond used a male pronoun."
"I am a male, I assure you. I have a penis." I said all too loudly. The class burst into laughter. I felt heat rise into my cheeks.
"Emil, do I need to call your brother?" Mr. Beilschmidt yelled over the yelling.
"No, sir." I swallowed hard. I already disliked this kid. "Now, if you will be so kind as to not speak to me. I'm not supposed to be interacting with you anyhow!"
I faced the front once more, but not a single word that Mr. Beilschmidt spoke registered to my mind.
