Hellu guys ~! I've actually been updating, how fun, yeah? Anyway, let's get back into this.
----------------------------------------------------------
The rest of the day went by rather fast, if I do say so myself. I only had two classes with Li, and thankfully, in the second class, he was on the other side of the room. Woo-hoo!
At the current time, I was waiting in front of the school for Lukas to come pick me up. Earbuds in my ears, I was thoroughly enjoying myself, humming the tune to a Bring Me The Horizon song. Lukas didn't much care for my taste in music, but that was okay, because on Saturday nights when Berwald was at work, Tino and I would sit in their bedroom and listen to it. Yeah, that's right, Tino loved this kind of music, and that was great.
I know what you're thinking: headphones with a blind kid isn't the smartest idea. You have every right to think that, because that is very true. Just as I began singing the chorus out loud, I felt someone very abruptly drag me, followed by screaming over my headphones.
I snatched one out, "What the fuck?" I spat, annoyed at being interrupted from my music.
"Are you serious? You didn't see that?" Speaking of a little devil named Li.
"No. I had my eyes closed."
"A car just came towards you at the highest speed-"
"What color?" I sighed. I had an idea of who it was.
"Silver."
"Tiny car?"
"Kinda."
"You're a dumbass. That's my older brother, the one that told me to stay away from you, so thank you very much for causing him to give me a lecture because you came over here. He wasn't going to hit me. He has great braking skills." That being said, I heard a car door shut and feet shuffling closer.
"About time you came, Lukas. What took you so long?"
A voice I hadn't expected to speak surprised me. "I'm not Lukas. Lukas has been sent away on a business trip... again.." Tino.
I could feel the tears pricking in my eyes, but I hid it with a sharp tone. "Great, like every other week, am I right?" Without my brother, no matter how much I hated to show it, I was lost. Each time, no matter how much I tried to hide it, everyone in our house were aware of my despair, but they wouldn't say anything to me or to Lukas about it.
"He'll be gone longer than he usually is.."
"How long?"
"A month.."
I groaned and snatched my arm away from Li (I had only just noticed the grip on my arm), and moved forward, putting my hand on the hood of the car and making my way to the passenger side, dropping into the car before I finally broke, resting my head on my arms against the dashboard as the tears began roll down my cheeks.
I almost didn't notice that Tino was getting into the car, only barely snapping out of it enough to hear the door shut softly. "He'll be back, Emil, please don't do this again.."
"You don't get it. What if you were blind and your only way of staying sane were to leave you constantly?!" I snapped, only regretting it when I heard a sharp intake of breath from the man.
"I'm sorry, I know it must be hard... let's just get home, I'll make you something to help you feel better.."
As the car turned on, the only reason I didn't slam my fist into the radio was Tino's hand gripping my wrist. As soon as the car turned on, all that could be heard was David Draiman - the lead singer of a band named Disturbed- beginning a song with the select words of "Hello darkness my old friend'.
"Could this day get any worse, Tino..?"
------
Apparently it could. On the way to my bedroom when we got home, I tripped over myself several times before I actually got into my bedroom, my hopes of Skyping my brother was destroyed when I was informed that Lukas had left his laptop on his hurry. Finally, the food that was cooked for our dinner was completely ruined, being burnt and setting the smoke alarm into a beeping frenzy.
I just gave up, letting sleep overtake me, I wasn't in the mood to deal with any of that.
Once I entered the wonderful land of dreams, I was overtaken with bright colors. I looked down, outstretching my arms to take a good look and make sure I indeed was seeing from my own point of view. A bright smile formed on my lips, and I took steps forward, through a field of flowers, I realized. When I reached the center, there was a whole circle that wasn't overtaken by the beauties, instead sat a teen, shoulder-length brown hair, tight jeans and a baggy shirt. His back was turned to me, but when I laid a hand on his shoulder, he turned his head to look over his shoulder.
His lips formed words, but no sound came out. I frowned and tilted my head. "I cannot hear you.."
Again, he tried to speak, but I couldn't hear his words. What the hell? Who was he?
Brown eyes stared into my own as he rose to his feet and turned to fully face me. He stood a few inches taller than I, but that was fine, because he was attractive and I liked my men taller. Really? Was I really saying this about a man in my dream? I was seriously screwed in the head.
The boy's hand grabbed my own and I was dragged along through the field at a pace that I didn't know was physically possible until we reached the same house as my first dream.
At this point I was utterly confused as to what was going on, but I just let this take it's course, wanting to know more about this dream rather than to question it. The boy pointed to the house, then to me, then back to the house before giving me a small smile.
"What?" I grumbled, "That's my house, so what?"
I could just barely make out what he was mouthing. 'Go see'.
"Aren't you going to come with me?"
He shook his head, 'I'll wait'.
I shrugged and took my hand from his own, making my way towards the house, up the stairs, and looking through the window. There sat my brother, looking worried sick for some reason. I turned to face the boy, but he was no longer there.
I just frowned and knocked on the door, loud footsteps following in the path until the door swung open and Lukas pulled me into a huge hug.
"Where were you? You could have gotten hurt, you could have-..."
And with that, he was gone, I was back in the field, and the boy was back.
Finally, words were spoken.
"Don't take your brother for granted. He cares for you. He's working his ass off to keep you happy and in the house that you live in." Then he vanished.
I darted up in my bed, questions swarming in my mind, but one stuck out the most.
Why was Li in my dream?
