I shrieked as I covered my mouth. No.
Haha. No. No way.
I did not just like his post from 9 years ago.
Shoot, shoot, shoot, shoot, shoot, shoot-
I quickly removed the like from his post and placed my phone face down.
He didn't see it, right?
He didn't get the notification that Nini Salazar-Roberts liked his post, right?
What if he saw it and he's on his way to confront me?
What if his girlfriend saw it?
Nini, you're going nuts. Get a hold of yourself.
I took a deep breath. I'm overreacting. I'm overthinking this entire thing.
And plus, why should I care if he did see it? I'm an engaged woman. I'm someone's fiancée.
I exasperatedly sighed as I clutched my head. I can't believe this. I can't believe myself right now.
How could I be worried about such things when I'm about to get married to EJ?
-
I was scrolling through my camera roll to look at pictures of EJ and me. I smiled as I went through each picture and briefly relived the moments.
He's your fiance, Nini. Get that through your head.
I looked up to see Ricky staring at me.
"Uh...hi." I said, awkwardly.
"Hello," he grinned.
"Can I...help you?" I asked.
"Well, I'm going on a date with Britney and I need to get a bouquet of roses."
"Okay," I said, starting to gather the roses. I handed the bouquet to him. "Here you go."
"Thank you very much, Ms. Salazar-Roberts."
"Of course, Mr. Bowen." I said, with a smirk.
And as if the universe likes torturing me, EJ came in the shop.
This is perfect. Just perfect.
"Uh...hey Ricky." EJ said with a menacing look. Ricky pulled the flowers close to his chest and flinched. "So weird we, like, never saw each other in the past 11 years and now we just can't stop running into each other." EJ chuckled.
I nervously laughed. "Uhm... heh, have a good day, Ricky!"
"Thanks, see you later, Neen." He smiled, walking out of the door. I forced a smile.
EJ sat down at the counter once Ricky had left, "So, what was Ricky doing here?"
I raised my eyebrows. "Uhm, he was just getting some roses for his date, honey."
"Oh. It's weird that we keep running into each other. I really hate that guy." He sucked in his breath and chuckled a little.
"Oh, EJ. This isn't high school anymore. He's... gotten better since then."
"What, are you still in love with him or something?" His tone, lacing with anger.
I was taken aback. Did he really just say that?
I gasped quietly. "EJ, how could you- how could you say that?"
"He's suddenly around all the time. You basically got engaged to him 9 years ago. There's gotta be some feelings left. He isn't just hanging around for nothing." He said, his voice rising.
I scoffed. "EJ, that makes no sense. I've never seen you like this before."
"Okay, then. Why is he around all the time now? He just happened to be at the store on multiple occasions. And Nini, don't act so innocent. You're acting different, also."
I exasperatedly sighed. I walked over to the sign, and flipped it so that it said "Closed."
I pointed at the sign. "EJ, if you can't tell, we're closed. So, please. Leave."
"Happily." He sighed and walked to the door.
"Don't expect me to be home tonight. Got a lot of...orders to fill."
EJ shook his head as he left. "Bye Nini."
I didn't reply back. I grabbed a bottle of water and took a sip.
What a day.
-
I spent the next few hours in my shop. Tidying up. Filling orders. All that jazzy stuff. It was around midnight so I decided to go home, and face EJ. I got into my car and drove back to our apartment. I unlocked the door and saw EJ sitting on the couch with his head in his hands.
I walked over to the couch and sat down next to him. I put my arm around him and rubbed his shoulder softly.
"Oh, Neen. I was so worried about you." He said, looking up and giving me a hug, "I'm so sorry about our fight. I was wrong. Please find a way to forgive me." He said, with a frown.
I smiled as I embraced him. "I don't love him anymore. The one I love is you."
He swallowed, "I know that. I love you too, Nini."
