BZZZZ.. Max's phone vibrated off her desk falling onto her face. "Urrrgh." She groaned unpleasantly while turning her alarm off. "Mmm." Max hadn't gotten much sleep last night because she spent way too much time reading her favorite wonder women comics. Thump Thump. There was a knock on her door, and soon the knob started to turn slowly as her mom, Susan peeked her head through the door. "Maxine, it's time to get up. It's your first day of school, and if you're late your father won't let you live to see another day." Her mother said with annoyance in her voice. This made Max shudder at the sound of 'your father won't let you live to see another day.' "He is not my father." Susan looked up in shock at the red heads response, "hurry your ass up. You have 15 minutes." She replied back to her daughters rude comment.

'Great. Just great. That means Neil will be back tonight.' Max thought as she pushed herself up off of her bed, walking towards her small closet and opening the white doors of it. She quickly grabbed a grey t-shirt and a pair of jeans. She threw over her teal jacket with yellow pattering, and slipped on her converse shoes, rushing into the bathroom to quickly brush her teeth and beautiful red locks of hair. She ran and grabbed her phone on the way out of her room. "Five minutes left Maxine!" She heard her mother yell from down the stairs. 'God, she's so annoying' she thought, speeding down the stairs and grabbing a granola bar as she rushed out of the kitchen. Max picked up her maroon back pack and skateboard as she ran out the front door in a hurry down the street, plugging in her earbuds and hearing 'Running Up That Hill' by Kate Bush suddenly blast on.

Max moved to Hawkins a few weeks ago and already made new friends, Lucas, Mike, Dustin, and Will. But today was finally the day she had to actually go to school, and she dreaded it.

As she made her way down the street and into the school yard reading 'Hawkins High School' she slid her skateboard up into her hands and then pushed it into the open zipper of her back pack. Her nose burned as she smelt the heavy perfume fill the halls even more each time she passed one of the more 'popular' girls. Stood beside the blonde girl with a cake of makeup was a beautiful brown honey curled hair. She smelt of vanilla, but not too strongly. "Oh my gosh, Jane, did you hear about the new baseball team captain! It's Troy! Of course!" The blonde said to the curly haired girl. Jane.. Max pulled out her earbuds as she heard her name being shouted from down the long, echoey hallway. "Oh, hey Lucas," she gently smiled as he walked up to her locker with her. "You look exhausted, did you get any sleep last night?" Lucas questioned as he looked under her icy blue eyes and saw dark stained eye-bags. "What-? what kind of question is that, Lucas? Of course not! I just got the new Wonder Woman comic yesterday!" She said excitedly whilst pulling out her English book from her locker. "Whoa, hey, okay. I get it, you like Wonder Woman." Lucas said back, holding his hands up and smiling in a 'you sound ridiculous' way. Like her? I love her! Max thought to herself. "Obviously I like her! How can you not?? She's Princess Diana of Themyscira!" She frowned, rolling her eyes as she slammed the locker door shut. "Themys- what now?" Lucas said sounding ridiculously confused as he bit back on a laugh. "I'm gonna pretend you didn't say that," Max hissed in the most annoyed tone. "Catch ya later, Maxine!" He shouted as he ran down the hall away from her knowing how she's going to respond to her full name. "You- hey! Lucas! Seriously? Cmon, I hate you!" She shouted and started to stomp off towards English. 'Jeez! Why is he always so...like..'that.' She thought to herself, annoyed.

Brrrrriiing!! The bell went off, echoing throughout the entire school.

As she walked into the classroom Mr. Farrell announced that they had a new student. This made Max's stomach melt with unease. "Welcome, class, Maxine Mayfield all the way from sunny California." Max rolled her eyes and corrected him holding back on her anger, "Max. Max Mayfield. Don't call me Maxine...please." Mr. Farrell looked at her and gave her a welcoming smile before saying "Alright Max, you can take your seat next to the window in the back of the class." And with that, she went to sit in her seat by the window. It smelt of freshly glossed wood, and had a little bit of dust from the window seal. "Good morning class, I know it's Monday, but there will be absolutely no complaining for todays assignments." Mr Farrell said with a bored frown on his face. "Hey Will!" She said as her brown haired friend walked up to his seat beside her. "Hey Max, how are you?" Will asked with a gentle smile. "I'm good, but dreading homework like always," Max replied quietly, and giggling with her friend. "For todays lesson, is called Fables. You must get with a partner, and select one event that has happened in your life, and you have to include some type of life lesson. You will be choosing your own partners, but if there are any problems, I will quickly choose them myself. Understand?" The teacher shouted from the front of the room, "Yes Mr. Farrell." The students groaned out, "All right class, choose your partners," Mr Farrell let out again. Max looked over to Will but he was already gone and at Mike's seat. Then this girl with long fluffy brown honey curls walks up to Max and says intriguingly, "Hey, would you like to be my partner?" She wants to be MY partner? That's weird.. Max thought. "Yeah, let's do it" The Redhead flashed a smile towards the girl and patted the seat beside her.

"So, do you know what you want to write about?" Max asked, looking into Jane's deep fall colored brown eyes. They remind her of coffee, or chocolate. Maybe even the Autumn leaves, or some beautiful honey smelt candles. Wow, she's beautiful.. How is it even possible to look that good? Wait, what? Oh jeez, I'm totally being corrupted. "Newby?" She said, snapping Max out of her thoughts. "Yeah?" The redhead asked trying to pretend she wasn't fantasizing about the innocent girl beside her. "My life has been...interesting. Do you have any ideas?" She said to Max, waiting anxiously for an answer in which she got. "Yeah, actually. We can write a poem, poem's can have whatever meaning you want, but mostly they have a life lesson in them. We can describe our life without really describing it up front. Is that okay with you?" Max said, started to feel heat swarm around her ears while waiting for a response. "Yeah, let's do it. My place?" Jane asked back with a bright smile going from ear to ear, "awesome." Max said quickly, giving a smile back.
