Her heart raced when she heard the tires screeched but nothing scared her more than Robert trying to follow everyone to the scene. She grabbed his arm and whispered to him "you're not going anywhere!"
Robert gave in having decided he'd frightened her enough in the past few days. Cora was worried for Mary. To lose another man she cared for in a car accident, would she recover?
It was a long wait and she could tell her husband was getting antsy. She took his hand. "Relax, I'm sure we'll find something out soon."
Berti and Edith arrived. "Is Mr.Talbot alright?" Robert asked.
"He is," Bertie replied. " his friend, Charlie Rogers wasn't so lucky though.
"Mary is with him," Edith said. " He's awfully upset."
"Mary is as well," Bertie said looking at Cora.
They looked up when the pair was walking towards them on the track.
Cora stood. Telling Robert to remain where he was.
She headed to Mary and before she knew it her daughter was sobbing in her arms."
"Oh my dearest one," Cora said. Knowing the heartbreak this was causing. Memories of hearing about Matthew.
She felt someone behind her and realized it was Robert. She leaned back into his touch as it drove into her that she could have lost him too she sobbed with Mary.
Robert held Cora knowing why she was crying. "I'm right here darling," he whispered in her ear. She turned her head and looked up at him. " i love you,"'she said waiting for a kiss, which he was happy to oblige.
