When I walked home, I had Angel's note in my hand and a smile on my face. Never did I think I would ever have a boyfriend in my hometown. The people here were "too holy" to accept me for who I am, which, sadly, to them was a freak and an abomination. It was great to finally feel that I was loved and wanted for the differences I have. Also, having a boyfriend was the greatest thing in the world to me. The only thing that was gonna try to stop me? The entire world. Sadly, I was just about to get smacked back into reality by an old nemesis.

"So, what you doing out here, faggot? Walking to your new boyfriend's house?" the jock from earlier said as he punched me and knocked me off my feet and onto the sidewalk with a loud thud. He then proceeded to pick me up by my shirt and hold me so close to his face that I could smell his breath; to be honest, he really needed to chew some gum.

"I'm just walking home. Is that a crime now?" I said as I was dangling by my shirt. After this, the jock decided to throw me to the ground again.

"Your boyfriend ain't here to protect you now, so whatcha gonna do about it?"

I don't think he was expecting what I was getting ready to say, but hey, it got this brute off of me and running for the hills. I got up the courage and the training from my acting classes and just gave it to him.

"Well, next time I see him," I said while biting my lip and running my fingers through my hair, "I will just have to tell him he now has some competition."

I paused, looked down, and made myself blush before I looked into the jockstrap's eyes. His jaw was on the ground before I even gave him the punch line.

"You know, you are really cute."

He stammered and was speechless. He ran away quicker than he ever did in a football game. All the damage he did was a little blood coming out of my nose from the punch and my head from where my head made contact with the concrete. Surprisingly, my pride actually grew that day. I was finally able to stand up and scare away the biggest bully in the school.
