Days had passed, Jaebeom has been seeing the blind guy every day. JayB couldn't help not to wonder how can that man manage to always sit on the same spot.
He's having doubts again if the guy was just lying.
Sipping his coffee from their balcony, he watches him, slowly approaches the seashore, swinging his cane while walking. He's just staring and when he was just about to completely ignore him, the guy's cane fell on the rocks and got stucked in between.
Uncertain, Jaebeom stood up. If the guy is faking his blindness, he could just easily get his stick because no one is around him, no one will find out that he's just bullshitting.
But the guy hunched his shoulders, and slowly knelt on the rock he's sitting, then very gently he presses his hands around the surface as if feeling it, probably to look for his cane. Even with the distance Jaebom could see the panic in him as he bended over while reaching on the empty space, and Jaebom frowns as he noticed it would be dangerous for him if he'd slipped.
"Stop! I'll get it for you." Jaebeom shouted.
He descended and quickly made its way towards the blind guy. Jaebom picked up the stick from where it fell and hands it to the guy.
The male reached for his cane with his shaky hands and Jaebeom gently grip it first then squeezes it to calm the guy. He's glad that it worked as the guy let out a sigh of relief.
"T-thank you. I thought I lost it, I can't sense any people around so I don't know how can I ask for help." The guy locked his arm around his stick.
"It's fine, just be careful next time." Jaebeom sat at the nearest rock next to him.
"Wait, how did you know I needed help. I'm pretty sure I'm alone here." The guy asked, he's staring in front again as if watching the waves.
"There's a house across the lighthouse tower, I saw you from there." He explained, and his eyes shots down on the guy's feet and ankles, as it is covered with patches that looks like from old bruises and wounds.
"Oh... Your voice seems familiar, have we met? I'm sorry I can't see you-"
"Nah I know, I was the guy from the other day." Jaebom intervene. "We lived here before and now I'm back just for a vacation. I'm Jaebeom."
"I see, I bet you're always seeing me too, I'm Youngjae." The guy held out his hand on the other direction so Jaebeom had to get up to shakes his hand.
"Y-yeah and I am always curious, how are you able to go here and always sit there at that spot?"
"Oh... Here? It's because this is the end of my road."
Jaebeom was confused then Youngjae smiled, a rueful one.
"520" He continued. "I have to take 520 steps from our house to get here. My father said that once I reached this place, it would almost be like I got around the town."
Jaebeom's eyes narrowed while looking at Youngjae.
"And you're counting your steps everyday? You don't dare to take more?" Jaebeom groaned in disbelief, now half amused at him.
"I can't, my father just guided me until 520. Now that he's gone, I can't tell which way to go more. It's fine with me. My mother knows this place too, she wouldn't be worried, knowing I can't go anywhere." Youngjae chuckled as he closes his eyes, feeling the cool breeze touches his skin.
There was a momentary pause with Jaebeom, his brows furrowed while shaking his head. It's like there's something in him that finds Youngjae weird because he couldn't get his positivity.
