"We ran an ID check and cross-referenced with all known databases. We have nothing," the Major told the Colonel as you walked behind your friend, coming in as further back-up the room had requested.

"Any high altitude surveillance in the region?" Rhodey asked.

"We got an AWAC and a Global Hawk in the area," another soldier called.

"So this thing just appeared out of nowhere? How come it didn't show up on the radar?"

You were just as confused by this as everyone else.

How you were meant to help in this situation, you didn't know.

"Got a minimal radar cross-section, sir."

"Is it stealth?"

"No, sir, it's tiny," the same soldier replied, "We think it's an unmanned aerial vehicle.

"Like a drone?" you offered.

"Exactly."

"Colonel, what are we dealing with here?" Major Allen asked.

Rhodey looked around awkwardly, unknowing what to say in reply to Allen's question.

"Let me make a call."

'Oh, God,' you thought, 'Tony.'

"Sergeant, clear a hole."

You didn't even get the chance to have to hide your laugh at the dirty joke that would have flooded your head at that. Too busy watching after your Colonel.

"Tony?" he asked after the phone had rung a couple times, "It's Rhodes... I said it's Rhodes... what in the hell is that noise?"

Oh, shit.

"Yeah, well, I need your help right now... yeah. Speaking of funny, we've got a weapons depot that was just blown up a few clicks from where you were being held captive... why do you sound out of breath, Tony?"

Christ Almighty.

"I thought you were driving."

Your eyes rolled into the back of your head at that, swiftly closing your eyes and covering them with your palm to hide them. Head, leaning back at how easily Tony's lie had fallen through.

"You sure you don't have any tech in that area I should know about?"

"Bogey spotted!" one of the soldiers yelled, causing your head to whip around to the screens at the front of the room.

"Okay, good, 'cause I'm staring at one right now, and it's about to be blown to kingdom come."

"Uh, Rhodey?" you breathed softly, so only he would hear the man reading your eyes clearly.

But not as clearly as you wanted him to.

"Ballroom, this is 'Whiplash One'. I've got the Bogey in my sights."

"Whiplash one, what is it?"

"Colonel, you really don't wanna do this," you husked to Rhodey.

"Stand down, Sergeant. I give the orders here."

"You don't wanna blow it up."

"I said stand down."

You decided you would give Tony a little more time so that you couldn't have to spill his secret unless you absolutely had to.
