A/N: Sorry for the bit of a late update, I just started college so they may be a little slower. I'm really happy that you guys are liking You Can Quote Me On That so far though, thank you for such positive reception!
In this chapter, Mina's dream is in italics and third person, because it's easier to write it like that, but because of the way it's framed in the story, imagine that she's telling it to Sana and Kai. And please, feel free to yell about the dream if you want, I deserve that.
Hope you enjoy!
TW: mentions of blood and violence, major character death (in the form of a dream)

20 December 1821
Dear Diary, I had a decent day today. Had a nice conversation with Momo over tea. We caught up on a lot of things. It's really surprising that until a month ago I really had no idea she was my sister. I guess my father has been keeping more things from me than I thought.
Mina suddenly stopped writing and put her quill down when she heard a very special type of knock. Three taps and one gentle rhythmic knock on the door to her bed-chamber. That was only reserved for one person. She knew that couldn't be possible, so she told herself that it was just her mind playing tricks on her. But, then, she heard it again. And then, once more. Three times was too many for it to just be in her head.
"If this is a joke, it's not a very funny one," Mina muttered as she got up and walked over to the door.
She slowly opened it and her eyes widened at what she saw. Her brother stood in front of her clear as day as light from the surrounding torches illuminated his figure. Before he could even get a word in, though, he collapsed forward. She held him up, brought him inside, and sat him down on the closest chair, closing the door shortly after.
"K—Kai? It's really you? I—I don't know what to say. You're really here?" Mina rubbed her hands up and down his arms to make sure he was actually real and not just some figment of her imagination.
Kai smiled at Mina's shock and actions. "You remembered that knock."
Mina felt her eyes water hearing Kai speak again. Kai grabbed Mina's hands to give her assurance of him being a reality and noticed how her ring sat on her hand, and not even just her hand, her left one. He let it be for the time being, and stood up, giving Mina a tight hug. That was when Mina finally broke. Tears ran down her face as she buried her head in Kai's shoulder. For four years she had been hoping for this moment. To see her brother again. It was like a wish come true.
Kai backed away and smiled at Mina as he wiped away her tears. He was so happy that she was still here. In the palace, in her quarters. Alive. "I'm really relieved. I wish I could scream in joy right now."
Mina chuckled softly, feeling the same way. "I'm really glad you're still alive."
"Likewise."
"So where have you been? What about your partner?"
Kai frowned at the mention of his partner. "I've been right below your feet. My partner was killed three years ago."
Mina gaped. "Huh? What? How?"
"It was after nearly a year of us running away. We were cornered by guards, he sacrificed himself for me. I was caught a couple of months later. Was trapped in the dungeons since."
"How did you escape then?"
"Thank Guard Kim."
"Which one?"
