(I will be basing this off of TV.)
Artemis and Flora don't meet again for almost two weeks. They meet again when, once again, they are asked to come to the police station.
"Officers, please cuff her."
"What?" a perplexed Fiona questions.
"We found some of your skin under Ms. Maxine's nails. You have the right to remain silent. You have the right to an attorney. The Officer leads Fiona to God knows where while Artemis stands still in Dismay.
Artemis new they needed to do something, but what? How could they find evidence that proved Flora not guilty? Artemis didn't know how, but they knew Flora was innocent.
🔪🔪🔪
Artemis heads back to work. They knew they wouldn't be able to focus, but they didn't want to force their hours on somebody else.
They went to the back room to get an apron. They stared at the doorway, where a rubber duck was perched on the trim. Artemis had been told when they were hired that there was a camera in the rubber ducks beak. In fact they had been told that every shop had a camera hidden in plain sight. Ever since a mass robbery in every shop, every store had a camera installed secretly.
Every shop.
Every Shop.
Artemis' eyes went wide. "Every shop!"
They went through the rest of their shift, then proceeded to go next door. There was somebody else at the check-out, and a police officer outside the door.
Artemis ran into the shop and into the back room, the police officer followed.
"Ma'am you can't be in here." The police officer tells them.
Artemis feels a pang in their heart, but they want the police officer to help them. Artemis says nothing in fear of the police officer being against them, and deciding to not help.
"Every shop has a hidden camera in the back, because that is where we store the safes. Anybody that doesn't work here wouldn't know that, some of the employees don't even know." Artemis rushes to explain to the police officer.
"So, let me get this straight. There might be a camera we missed in here?" The police officer asks, brow furrowed.
"Yes. It could have more proof of who murdered Maxine." Artemis rushes around the room searching of something that could hold a camera.
"Hold on now." The police officer grabs Artemis' shoulder.
He closed the door, turned off the light, and turned on his flashlight. He shined it all around the room.
Artemis was extremally confused. The police officer seemed to know what he was doing though, so they let it be.
The police officer stopped when he landed on a fairy charm hanging from a clip board on the wall. A blue light was coming from the wand of the fairy.
The police officer turned the lights back on and opened the door. "Don't touch anything else, understand?" The police officer asked.
Artemis nodded their head. Soon the police were pulling up to the scene again.
They retrieved the fairy and asked Artemis a few more questions before leaving.
Artemis hopes this will help Flora go free.
🔪🔪🔪
The police take the fairy back to the station to retrieve the camera, and examine the footage.
Flora was sill in a holding cell, she was cold and hungry, and she wanted to see snowflake. She was having her friend May look over snowflake, but she still missed him.
The questioning had been brutal, and Flora didn't know how to answer any of the questions, so she didn't.
Imagine her surprise when just a day later she is told she can go back home. Flora is told about what Artemis did, and is escorted out to her car.
"Be safe out there Ma'am." One police officer advises.
"Of course." Flora smiles despite not being in a smiley mood. She got home and relived May of her duty's, forcing some money into her hand as she left. Flora ate some food, got ready for bed, and passed out.
🔪🔪🔪
The next day Artemis is sitting at the front desk at 4:00pm, when the police push open the door.
"Well you were right to go back to the scene, the murder happened at 2:34am. Flora told us it was an unhealthy time to be up at, and she wouldn't be caught dead awake at that time. Then she told us we could check the security cameras at her apartments. We did and it revealed she went in at 5:pm and out at about 7:00am."
Artemis took a deep breath. They were relieved they could do something to help.
Flora was to be released and said she would be back tomorrow, according to the police.
Artemis felt bad that Flora was going to go to work after the events over the past few days.
Artemis was even more surprised to find Flora at the front desk the next morning.
"Would you like to go to Maxine's funeral with me?" Flora asks.
"Soon for a funeral," Artemis states, "But, sure."
"She was Jewish, so their just tryna get her into the ground fast as possible." Flora shrugs. "I came here to get some flowers to bring."
"I wound love to come, are you sure her family won't mind?"
"Yeah, they are nice." Flora assures Artemis.
"Okay, well the best flowers in my opinion would be anything purple or white really. Purple isn't supper traditional, as many bring white, red, or sometimes yellow. However, purple often signifies respect, sorrow, sympathy and admiration." Artemis says at an extremally fast pace.
"Any specifics?" Flora asks.
"Your name is Flora shouldn't you know this stuff?" Artemis jokes. "I would do purple chrysanthemum(thoughtfulness and care), and really any orchid should work, but I would do white."
"Okay, I'll take your word for it. Do you need to go home to change or anything?" Flora asks.
"I'm good." Artemis had worn a tame outfit today.
"When your done come over to may shop any then we can wait for my friend May to pick us up." Flora smiles and waves as she heads out the door.
