Grady and Edaline had just gone home to freshen up and bring us food.
Lihn and Dex had gone home so had Biana.
Fitz, Keefe, and I were the only ones still in the waiting room and I noticed Lihn and Biana looking disappointed when they leaped away.
My thoughts swirl around my head worries about Sophie overpowering every sense and the fact that she had already been through so much made my heart break for her.
I was so lost that I didn't notice I had headed for the door and started to turn the knob.
I knew I shouldn't, but I turned the handle anyway and the sight that befell my eyes was horrific.
Sophie was lying on her cot and Elwin was rubbing stuff on her arm and face, but the paste just spilled off onto the floor.
Looking at the floor I could see the remnants of other potions and elixirs all over the floor.
Bullhorn was curled up next to Sophie and she was looking very pale.
Elwin beckoned me over and hurriedly spoke," Tam, the areas around the wound is all murky and I think shadow flux is preventing my potions from working, like with her echoes five years ago."
"Those cuts are definitely going to scar, but we can still save Sophie," Elwin says breathlessly.
He looks exhausted and I don't blame him he has been working on trying to heal Sophie for nonstop for hours.
"Can you control them and get rid of them?" He asked me
"I can try," I said as I shifted my shadow to Sophie, her beautiful face was bleak and looked strained.
Her shadow vapor was like lying down in tar and drinking it.
I begged the shadow vapor to return from where it came from.
The desperation for Sophie to survive poured into my hands and every ounce of my dragged the shadow vapor away.
I heard bullhorn shuffle away and relief flushed through me.
The world was spinning and I had to sit down.
Elwin rushed over and raced to put balms on her cuts.
She was looking better and Elwin went off to mix some
I heard Sophie gasp.
"Sophie!"
"hi Tam, are you ok?"
"You're asking me?"
"Seems sort of ironic since I almost died, but any who are you okay, you look dizzy?"
"I'll be fine just a bit light headed"
"Come sit next to me," she said making room on her cot for me.
I sat down next to Sophie and we sat there in awkward silence for a bit before the whole crew barged in through the door.
"Girl you didn't die! I'm so proud!" Biana joked hoping to keep the conversation lighthearted.
We all grinned and they all took turns hugging Sophie and consoling her.
Just when Linh had pulled away from her rib-cracking hug Elwin walked in and shooed everyone out so that Sophie could rest.
We walked out of the Healing Centre and decided to have a sleepover at the Vacker's (palace) house by majority vote.
I was really not looking forward to this, but reluctantly wet home and started packing my overnight bag.
What was I dragging myself into? I don't want to deal with the Vackers right now.
Sorry this took so long to post a special sorry to my BFF who has been nagging me to finish this. The next chapter will hopefully be more exciting.
