Yes, I was on the ship. I am one of few survivors. Very few survivors. Some how, I escaped while so many others were lost. I regret that. I regret living now. I am the reason a third class child wasn't saved. I took a seat that a poor old women could have had. I was selfish. That's why I regret living.
It's hard to talk about. I feel like somehow this was all my fault but they tell me I did nothing wrong. "Of course you didn't do anything wrong Madeleine! You didn't make the ship hit the iceberg or make Titanic sink." My mother would say to me. Well, I know that it's just, I still can't help but think... If I died, who would have taken my place to be saved? Was there anything I could have done?
Yes there was. I could have given up my seat. I could have been one of the brave ones but, instead I was a coward. But now there's nothing I can do.
Now, It's just me in this house, writing down my experiences. Just me against the world. Just me and my memories. Just me....
