"All test objects in place?" - "Yes. The first people start to regain consciousness. Everything is working fine."

-

Maxine's eyes flattered open, a muffled voice slowly appearing clearer, which hallowed in her head for a while now.

A light breeze stroked through her hair, making her body shiver.

"Oh god, finally!", a husky voice jabbered in a kind of relieved way, standing beside her body.

The brown haired girl blinked a few times because of the neon lights around her.

"What..?"

The sky was dark already and all the lights in the buildings around them were turned on, visible from miles away.

With a little effort, she lifted her upper body and sat up, back aching from laying on the hard ground. Her eyes furrowed perplexed when she realised that she was sitting on a street, without any car in sight tho.

Then, she looked into a glassy pair of brown eyes which stared into hers, a weak smile decorating his face.

The man's cheeks were covered in noticeable freckles, his dyed platinume hair almost reached down to his chin, like some kind of mullet. His curtain bangs stood messy.

In conclusion: his looks didnt match his deep voice at all.

She probably never saw a prettier man before.

"You alright, love?", the blonde boy asked after a while, chuckling at Maxine's weird stare on him, showing his uneven dimples.

Maxine quickly shoved some strands of hair out of her face, whereupon she stood up on her feet carefully.

"Yea. Where..are we?"
- "New York, I guess. Just look at the many bridges."

He explained with a shrug, pointing towards a direction with his finger.

Maxine's eyes scanned the place with hesitant, not realising biting her already chewed nail on her thumb. One of her nasty habits.

She slowly started to realise where they were located. The man was right, you could see the east river.

Her eyes widened when some air brushed through her hair, inhaling the familiar smell. You couldn't explain the smell to someone who didnt live here. It was..New York.

"This..cant be.." it was hard to make Maxine speechless, but she really was. Oh, how long she didnt inhale clear air through her lungs.

"Punch me..!", the brown haired one suddenly demanded while holding onto the male's shoulders, shaking him directionless.

The blonde, who was just as tall as Maxine, observed her with big eyes.

"Pardon..?" - "This is a dream, right?!"

A light smile appeared on his face.

"What's ya name?"

Freckles' almost angelic like voice made her release her bottom lip from her teeth.

It was so soothing.

"Maxine..", she replied with a quiet sigh, her eyes finally meeting his'.

"I'm Finley, pleasure to meet you. Now that we got that, lets try to calm down a bit, alright? You have a really tight grip-", he talked with a nervous smile, whereupon the girl quickly pulled her hands back.
