"Hey, my love," You greeted Hailee as she walked through the front door of your house. "I'm so happy that you're here! I've been missing you."

She closed the door behind her before she pulled you into her arms for a big hug and a soft, sweet kiss.

"I've missed you more." She said as she brushed her fingers across your back.

It's only been a couple of days since you last saw her but it feels like it's been much longer than that when you're used to seeing her every day.

But she landed a new role in a new film and, on top of that, she's also been working on music so she's been incredibly busy.

But it's a little after eight-thirty and with tomorrow off, she came over to stay the night with you and your precious daughter.

"Where's Evelyn?" She excitedly asked as she looked around the living room.

"In bed."

"Oh," Hailee frowned.

"She was so tired that she went to bed about an hour ago."

Hailee looked quite sad as she tried to be understanding, though there was a slight sadness in her heart.

"I hoped she'd be awake still. I've missed her a lot."

"Well, why don't you go see her, then?"

Hailee's eyes lit up and a grin tugged at her lips at your words.

"Really?"

"Yeah! You think I've been missing you? She's, somehow, been missing you even more than I have."

Hailee's heart swelled at the thought.

Your sweet seven-year-old daughter has become her whole world since she first met her.

You've been dating for almost eight months and you introduced your daughter Evelyn to Hailee about three months ago and, now, they're practically best friends.

Evelyn adores Hailee. She thinks her job is the coolest thing in the world and she loves how sweet she is.

Since her dad walked out when she was just a couple of months old, it's only been the two of you until recently, and that worried you because you didn't know how she'd first react to Hailee.

But Hailee didn't have to do much to win her over.

She spoils Evelyn rotten, always reminding her how adored she is by the two of you and how she's changed her life for the best, as have you.

So, as much as your daughter needed some rest because she was so sleepy, she'd be over the moon with happiness when she wakes up to find Hailee standing over here after spending a couple of long and busy days apart.

Hailee didn't wait another second.

She kissed your cheek before she took off her shoes by the door and ran up the stairs.

She reached Evelyn's bedroom and peeked through the crack to find her curled up in bed.

Her little nightlight was on because Evelyn is still afraid of the dark and she can't sleep without that on.

She also noticed, when she pushed the door open, that she was curled up with the stuffed bear Hailee got for her.

She loves that bear. She barely ever lets it out of her sight and sleeping without it is as diffocult as sleeping without her nightlight on.

Hailee walked into her room, quietly padding across the floor until she reached Evelyn's bed.

Seeing that her covers had slipped down a bit as she slept, Hailee pulled them back up to her shoulders and made sure that she was tucked in all warm and cozy.

She leaned in and put her lips against Evelyn's forehead, softly kissing her skin.

As she pulled away, Evelyn opened her tired eyes and gazed at Hailee.

"Hey, sweetheart. I'm sorry that I woke you."

Evelyn rubbed her eyes, yawning quietly.

"Just go back to sleep." She said and watched as Evelyn started to close her eyes, only to open them again. "It's okay, honey. I'm staying the night so I'll be here when you wake up. We'll spend tomorrow together. Me, you, and your mom."

Evelyn nodded her head quickly and Hailee knew she was excited just thinking about it.

"Have sweet dreams, honey. I love you."

"Love you, mom,"

Hailee looked back to the door, thinking that Evelyn was talking to you.

But you weren't there.

"Me?" Hailee quietly asked. "Evelyn, sweetie, did you just call me mom?"

"Yeah." Evelyn quietly said and Hailee's heart almost stopped beating. "Night, mom,"

Hailee couldn't stop smiling.

She felt so happy just hearing that one word slip from Evelyn's lips.

It was the first time she's ever called her mom and although she's thought about it before, hearing Evelyn say it now was even more special than she imagined it would be.

"Goodnight, sweetheart," Hailee said before kissing Evelyn's head softly and getting up to exit the room as she slipped back to sleep.

She held back tears in her eyes as she walked downstairs to where you were waiting for her.

"She sleeping again?" You asked as you looked at Hailee. "Babe, is everything okay?"

"Yeah," Hailee said, chuckling tearfully. "Perfect. Y/N, she called me mom."

You couldn't help but smile from ear to ear.

"She did?"

"Yeah! It feels amazing. I'm so happy!"

You pulled her into your arms, giving her an even bigger hug than before.

"She loves you so much."

"I love her too," Hailee said as she held you close. "I never thought I could ever be so happy. I'm so lucky."

"We're the lucky ones, Hailee. Evelyn and I, we're so lucky that you came into our lives and we adore you more than you'll ever know."

She smiled brightly as she rubbed your back, knowing at that moment that she'd found her forever with her beautiful little family.
