𝚀𝚞𝚒𝚌𝚔 𝚒𝚗𝚝𝚛𝚘𝚍𝚞𝚌𝚝𝚒𝚘𝚗: since you were a kid, you had some severe problems with anxiety and you sometimes have a hard time battling it. usually it ends up in panic attacks or fainting.

𝐒𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐨:

you were sitting on the meadow above the konoha. it was late at night, silence was filling up the air. stars were brightly shining above your head and it just couldn't be better, right? yeah, you thought so. if you weren't having one of your anxiety attacks.

you had a really important mission tomorrow and the risks of not coming back are really high. you didn't know if you were capable of that.

only the thought of the risk of not coming back ever again and not seeing people you love the most drove you crazy. but the mission is the priority.

you curled up like a little child and let a few tears slide down your cheeks. it felt like the night when you lost everything. your sister, your father... everyone you loved.

you sensed someone's presence around you, but you just couldn't stop panicking.

what if i never come back?

what if I don't succeed?

what if i fail?

what if...

what... if...

you felt a pair of arms wrapping around your cold body. you were breaking down, your hands were shaking, you couldn't stop crying and all of the negative thoughts were running through your head.

it's okay a fainted voice said.

it sounded like it was far away from you. like it was a spirit that was talking to you.

you'll do great.

you'll be fine.

i believe in you, {name}

the voice became more clear and less distant.

when you pulled yourself out of the dream-like state, you realized it wasn't a ghost. it was kakashi.

"i-i don't think i can do this..."

"you can," he said and pulled you closer, "and you will. you're strong, i knew it since the day you joined ANBU. since the day i first met you..."

you let yourself lean on his chest and take a few deep breaths.

"that's good, keep breathing like that," he said in a gentle voice. "breathe deeply and slowly. good girl."

you tried hard to bring the normal breathing back, but it was easier to say than to do it.

"it's okay, take your time," kakashi whispered.

he was gently caressing your back and hair, knowing how you adore that.

"you'll do great, i know that. you don't have to worry," he tried to reassure you. "you're an amazing shinobi and you aren't alone. remember that."

"I don't want to let anyone down... i don't -"

"shh, i know," he cut you out by placing his finger on your lips. "i know. but you won't. 'cause you're you. you'll do this mission better than anyone. that's why hokage chose you for this."

Once you have calmed down a little, you lift your head to look him in the eye. kakashi pulled his mask down and kissed you softly on the lips.

you touched his cheeks gently and started to feel incredibly sleepy.

"i love you," you said.

"i love you too."

"and thank you... for everything," you said and sunk your head in his chest again. you felt safe.

"don't thank me... you know that I'm always there for you. I'll protect you..."

"...i know."
