Chapter 8

Incarnation Part A

"Well, would you look at that," Hermes said amusingly as he picked up the letter that appeared on his desk. His eyes scanned the seal, recognizing the symbol, and seeing that it wasn't broken, he opened it. After reading it, he paused and frowned.

After rereading it two times, he sighed and put it down. "Asfi!" he called out as he clasped his hands together and put his head against it.

A moment later, an indifferent Asfi walked in with her adventuring gear already kitted out. "What do you need, Lord Hermes?" she asked.

"Read this," he commanded as he handed the letter to her. His voice lost its usual laxness as a sense of nervousness began to eat at him. His eyes expectedly stared at her, waiting for her response.

The stoic blue-haired woman nodded solemnly, recognizing his seriousness, and received the letter. She then began to read through it, her eyes blinking in confusion in her first read before she reread it. "A juggernaut spawned on the fifth floor?" she asked in disbelief.

"Yeah, and it looks like our good friend Ichigo is caught in the middle of it," the god sighed as he twirled in his seat, his nervousness forcing him to move his body.

"Do you want me to gather the familia and investigate the matter?" she asked, her eyes expectedly looking at him.

"Yes," Hermes nodded but his voice held hesitation within it. To spawn a juggernaut is to damage the dungeon so much that it panics... To do so on the upper floors is to deliberately seek to spawn it. His frown deepened as he tried to think of any conflict between the highest ranking familia to warrant such damage.

The Loki familia? No, they rely too much on the dungeon and if it gets closed off for an extended time, they may find some troubles... Especially with their strongest on an expedition. He sighed as he leaned back on his chair, his mind coming to two conclusions. "Have Tabitha stay and investigate Ishtar and Freyja," he said as he rubbed his chin. "Oh, if you meet ever meet a tall, skinny-looking person with a black cloak and no face down there, try to wring him of information."

Asfi gave him a small, confused look before nodding wordlessly and beginning to walk out.

Yet, the god had one other thought as well. "Oh, if you encounter Ichigo, please rely on him," he said with a small, faint smile. "Whatever dangers are down there, he may be your only way of survival."

The captain paused and gave a small smile to him. "Yeah, I'll be careful too."

"Give me back my sweets!" Meryl cried out as she chased a crooked-nose man. Her little legs and smaller frame were unable to grab the bag from him.

"Gotta try harder!" the man grinned as he playfully held the pallum back with a single hand.

"Stop being mean to Meryl, Keaks," a kindly, short-haired woman said with a soft voice. Contrasting her voice, her foot harshly kicked the man right in the crotch.

"Nelly!" the man, Keaks, cried out in utter pain as he keeled over whilst holding his crotch. His teeth gritted against each other as he tried to soothe his aching part.

Nelly merely smiled as she grabbed the bag from him and handed it to Meryl. "Here you go, Meryl," she said warmly as she patted the small witch on the head. "If he ever does that again, hit him in the same place I did."
