Lily, Kei and Professor Frost stand guard in the Masters Hall, making small talk as things are typically pretty quiet on the night watch. Lily looks to the Professor, kind of bored. "I feel like this is the last wing that anyone would ever attack. There's nothing much here to destroy." The Masters Hall is the main corridor of the school, where all other wings branch off. If you want to get anywhere in the school, you have to reach the Masters Hall first.
Kei laughs, thinking of how dumb someone would have to be to attack such an easily accessible area. "Yeah, if anyone came through here, they would be attacked immediately from all sides." Frost tilts her head to the side, acknowledging the logic of the two kids. "Maybe, but we aren't just here for attackers. If children want to wander the halls, they have to cross through here in most cases." Lily and Kei nod to the wise Master. "Remember children, not all assignments and missions are going to be exciting." Just then, Lily points down the hall to a dark figure turning a corner. "Did you see that?" Kei darts down the hall, the other two following behind. "Let's go!"
"Hey, you with the face! Go back to bed, man!" Dez chuckles at Leo's bluntness as they catch a student sneaking through the halls. Venus shakes his head with a palm to his face. "You with the face? Is that the most professional thing you could've said?" Leo looks up to the Master, smiling. "Professional? Definitely not. But it worked." Dez and Leo laugh as Venus sighs, not understanding how a kid who's been through so much can still be so happy. "What's so funny, kids?" The three turn to see Zephyr's smiling face and Landry following behind. Dez points at Leo. "Just Leo being incredibly unprofessional, as always."
Leo doesn't hear this though. He's looking at Master Landry, his half hearted grin written across his face like a depressing reminder of what he's lost. Who he's lost. Alan hasn't been the same man since Taraji died last year. He's been a shell of a human without her. Walking, talking, and carrying out his duties, but missing a lot of what made him who he was. He doesn't laugh, and that half smile is the most anyone has seen from him since the day of the funeral. Leo tunes back into the conversation, seeing Venus and Zephyr chatting. Leo cuts in, trying to get his mind off of his thoughts. "So, what are you guys doing out so late? I assumed everyone else would be asleep." Alan lifts his papers up, sighing in exhaustion. "Being a teacher involves a lot of late nights and paperwork." As the five Mages chat amongst themselves, they hear a loud crash in the distance, and put themselves on guard.
Lily and Kei are a few feet ahead of their old Master, who is struggling in her old age to keep up. But there isn't time to worry about that now. There was just a massive sound in the direction the dark figure ran in. They arrive at a staircase that the three descend down, finding a horrific sight. A huge man covered with a bright lightning and throwing mages around like rag dolls in a dimly lit hallway. Kei steps forward. "Zeus."
The man turns around, seeing some familiar faces. "It's been too long, roaches!" He jumps forward, being pushed back by a blast from Lily. She looks to Kei, who jumps into action. Professor Frost looks to the blonde girl, pointing to the bodies on the ground. "I'll assist your friend. You get those Mages to safety!" Lily bows, running to the first group and dragging them back to the stairs. Kei runs up to Zeus with knives in hand, jumping from the ground to the wall as Zeus slams his fist in the floor like a mindless gorilla. She tosses one of her knives, lodging it into his shoulder. "Arrrgh! Go to Hell, you damn kid!" Zeus swings backwards, hitting Kei as she's jumping through the air past him.
Lily sees Kei flying through the air, ready to break her fall. But suddenly, a thick pile of snow forms underneath her friend. Lily glances back to see Professor Frost and her wand pointed at the mound, the tip glowing with a pure white light from her stone. "Like I said, young one. I have your friend, you take care of everyone else!" Lily gets to work, dragging as many people as she can to the stairs behind Frost as possible. "Yes ma'am! I'll leave this to you!"
