As I walked through the woods, stepped on some leaves. The noise attracted walkers, about 3 of them.

"Shit." I whispered to myself. I took my knife out of my back pocket. I stabbed one of them in the head.

2 to go.

I stabbed another.

1 to go.

The last one got close, too close. I stumbled back, tripping over a rock. The walker fell on top of me, trying to bite me. I struggled to get up.

I got my knife and stabbed it before it could bite me. Then I pushed the walker off and continued walking.

It's been about 8 months since this thing started. And I've been alone this whole time. I never really liked groups. They slow me down and get in my way. I'm used to being alone anyways.

I lived with my mom, sister and dad. We were a happy family, until everything started going in the opposite direction. My sister moved out because she was old enough. Everything was okay for her. My mom turned into a drug addict. She died from overdose, leaving my dad and I.

My dad was always upset about her. He would get angry at me for it. He was unemployed an every night he would go to the bar for drinks from 7pm to 2am the next day.

And when he wast out getting drunk, he was being abusive. He used to punch and kick me until I bled.

One day when I was 17, I had enough. I didn't want anymore beatings, cuts, or scratches, so I packed my bags.

When I was about to open the door, someone knocked. Who was it? A police officer.

"Are you Alex Brooks?" "Yes." "I'm sorry to tell you. Your father was in a terrible car accident. We did some testin' and sure enough, he was drunk driving. He was dead by the time any ambulance arrived. I'm sorry."

I cried. Even though he was the worst person in the world, he was still my dad.

I looked down at my arms and rolled my sleeves up, revealing some cuts that never quite healed.

"So much for happy family." I say to myself.

In the distance, I saw a sign. It read "Pharmacy". I walked to the place.

Looking through the window, it looked clear. So I opened the door and walked in. I walked around, making sure there was absolutely no one in here. It was definitely empty.

I saw three water bottles and a candy bar and I put it in my backpack.
