"You weren't kidding when you said this would be tough!" Kureha yelled at me, from across the room. She took out a grenade from her belt, pulled the pin, and chucked it at the monstrosity in front of her.
The Dirty Scissor. That was its name. It's a giant monster, armed with metallic claws and various layers of armor to limit the amount of damage it takes.
But it wasn't looking at her. Its gaze was centered on me. I had just used the skill Attention Getter, which taunted the monster to target me. I may not have had the highest defense, since I focus on AGI and DEX, but I had a plan.
"Emma!" I yell to the ArFa-Sys, who was behind a barrier. "Nanotech Boost, pronto!"
"Understood, Master!" I hear her respond.
Within the next second, I feel a bullet hit my back, enhancing my stats tenfold.
I look back to the monster, and take out the weapon Emma had made for me, the Fragarach.
"Alright, big ugly," I say, holding the weapon at eye level. "Bring it!"
The monster let out an intimidating roar, then bull rushed me. I jump to the side, and watch as it hits the wall, dazed. I take the opportunity to grapple up to its neck, and plunge the Fragarach deep into the monsters nape. It let out one more roar, before finally falling to the ground, dispersing into blue particles. I land on the ground, satisfied.
"You know, you may have gotten a fancy new sword," Kureha says, coming up beside me, reloading her SMG. "but you shouldn't forget that this is still a game about guns. If you want melee combat, you should go play ALO."
My friend smirks, proud of her remark.
"Yeah, sure, whatever you say." I utter, distracted by the massive blast door opening behind us.
We enter the room, spotting a chest.
"Master, Kureha!" Emma says, running up behind us. "Exemplary job! You two work well together!" she exclaims, bowing.
"I'm glad you think of us that way, Rei, but Isaac and I are just two friends who played a lot of video games together. We work well together in any situation."
"What she said." I agree with her.
I turn back around, the give the treasure chest a good kick. It springs open, and another three dimensional object comes out, and shoots into me.
I opened the menu, and looked at what I had just got. The next expansion for Emma.
"Looks like Argo's info was right." I say, closing my menu. "We have the next expansion."
"Seems like this Argo lady is really reliable." Kureha grumbles, rolling her eyes. "What other deals have you made with her?"
"Kureha, get your head out of the clouds. It's strictly professional." I shoot back.
"Yeah, whatever you say, hotshot. Come on, let's get back to Glocken."
We step inside of the teleporter ahead, and set coordinates for the Glocken.
Once we teleport from the dungeon, dubbed Subway A, to the city, I press the button on my helmet to make it dematerialize, revealing my head.
"What a stretch that was." I say. "But hey, we got the info we needed."
"Yes, Master. Your combat skills are increasing. You seem to have adapted well to GGO." Emma says, a content expression on her face.
"Yeah, under my guidance." Kureha remarks, smiling deviously.
While they keep talking, my attention is drawn to the nearby television screens. All of them displayed the current rankings in the BoB. The Finals. There seemed to have been 30 or so participants.
