The Incident

Part 1

Rhea is sitting alone in her hostel room and crying with her doors closed. She does not want her new friends in the college hostel to feel bad for her. The new place is supposed to help her move on and forget about him. But that conversation with Sid kept on resonating inside her head " I am not in love with anymore Rhea". She wants to cry and scream louder. Rhea felt that she cannot take it anymore. She wants to talk to Sid. She picked up her mobile phone to call him. Suddenly someone started knocking at the door . She kept her mobile phone aside and opened the door. It is her roommate Isha. Isha is a smart and ambitious girl who came to the college to fulfill her career goals . She is the kind of a person who lends her shoulder to someone in need to lean on and cry. Isha observed that Rhea is trying to hide something behind her red and swollen eyes. She noticed the unspoken pain that Rhea was going through. Isha casually striked a conversation with Rhea - "Hey so do you want to meet my old friends from high school? They too joined in the same college. Come on let me introduce them to you". Rhea is going crazy there. Isha knew if she stays alone in the room she will definitely call Sid and she definitely does not want that to happen. So she went out with Isha and met her friends. She did not expect them to be friendly with her. She is new afterall. But within a few moments she started to feel better. She became one of them cracking jokes and laughing without even a single underlying thought about Sid. Isha felt like Rhea is a young and charming girl who can become friends with people in no time. She thought that the crying girl inside the closed walls is her dark side that was cracked open by some incident. She wanted her to talk about it. After talking with Isha 's friends for a while Rhea came back to her room with Isha. She is feeling much better than before now. She looked at Isha and saw a potential best friend in her. She felt like that she can trust Isha. She is thinking about talking to her about Sid which is when Isha suddenly looked at her and asked " So what was wrong? Why were you dull? If you want to talk about it I am here okay." Tears started flowing through Rhea 's eyes beyond control. Isha hugged her and asked "What happened?" Rhea is saying something but her words are getting crumbled in her crying. She cried and cried for a few minutes and then slowed and caught a breath . She started telling Isha by slowly wiping her tears "Sid broke up with me. I do not know why. He says that he just do not love me anymore but I love him so much. I never thought that he would do this to me. I thought he loves me a lot more than I do. He used to. But what changed now? I am not getting it. He asked me to stop calling him. I do not feel that I can move on. I still love him and do not know what to do". Rhea kept on repeating the same words and crying. Isha understood that how much Rhea got attached to Sid. She is not able to process the break up. Isha felt that Rhea needs some answers. She deserves it. Isha took Rhea 's mobile phone and copied the phone number of Sid without Rhea noticing it. She went outside and called Sid from her mobile phone. He picked up the call. Isha started talking about Rhea "Hi Sid I am Isha Rhea's friend . I do not know what went wrong between you too but Rhea is not taking it well. She is a mess. It seems that she does not know that why you broke up with her. She deserves an answer to that question at the very least. Does not she? I know that it is totally upto you what you want to decide but what is the harm in keeping her informed about that. It will help her to get over it and move on. Don't you think?" Isha went on talking like this when Sid interrupted her and asked her "Who is Rhea ? I am sorry. I don't know her. You must have gotten the wrong phone number. I don't know anyone with the name Rhea. Wait! I used to have a classmate with that name. Are you talking about her? Even if it is that Rhea I barely know her . I do not know what you are talking about?" Isha is astonished with Sid's response. "Did I get the wrong phone number somehow? But there was only one contact with the name Sid. Maybe this is another Sid. She must have saved that Sid 's phone number with a different pet name" she thought. She apologized to Sid and hung up the call. She turned back and Rhea is standing just right behind Isha. Isha - "Oh god ! You scared me Rhea! Let us go inside the room. I want to talk to you".
