You made your way through the sewers. It was the safest way to get to the bridge while avoiding Silco's men. Ekko led from the front followed by Vi, Caitlyn, and then you. It felt familiar and comfortable to be at the rear. It reminded you of old times. Slowly you looked up from the ground as you walked. Noticing the sewer tunnel opening up into a wider space. The three of you entering an abandoned part of the Lanes. Moss and overgrowth covering old structures along the walls. Little glowing green bugs filled the area. You heard Caitlyn speak up from ahead of you.
Caitlyn: What are they?
Vi: We call them firelights.
Looking around you saw dozens flying about.
Y/n: Never seen so many though.
The four of you continued on in silence. Ekko eventually leading all of you to another smaller tunnel. You let everyone go ahead as they climbed out the other end. Following from the rear as you took a step out and looked around. You were standing on a large gear attached to one side of the bridge. It was part of the mechanism that helped raise it when ships needed to pass it by. Carefully the four of you climbed up eventually making it to the top of the bridge. Looking ahead you still had a few hundred feet to walk before getting to the other end. Fog covered the area and lamps lining the bridge were the only thing to offer illumination. The four of you continued your journey down. You in the rear again with Vi in front of you. Caitlyn and Ekko at the head. Scanning the area, it seemed pretty quiet and no one else was about. It seemed safe for now. Looking back ahead you suddenly felt a piercing pain in your head. Memories of that day coming back to you. The voices intensifying from being here. The place where everything had gone wrong. You gripped your head and turned your back from the rest of the group. You felt your hear beat quicken as they plagued you. But oddly enough you felt the cores pump speed up as well. Like it was under more stress. It had never done that before. Ignoring the thought, you managed to push the visions and the voices away. It was easier after having rested but you could still feel them in the recesses of your mind. Lurking in the darkness waiting for another chance to strike. You saw Vi look back at you. Her face flashing with worry as she saw your pained expression. But you motioned for her to continue. Which she hesitantly did but you saw her glance back at you every once in a while, to make sure you were still alright. Calming yourself you continued as you looked ahead. Watching Vi's back as the four of you moved along. But slowly you saw your sister slow down until she was completely stopped. Glancing back toward her you saw Vi give you a regretful look. And that was all it took for you to understand. Sighing you turned around moving to her as you placed a comforting hand on her shoulder. Ahead you slowly saw Ekko and Caitlyn look back towards the two of you noticing that both of you had stopped.
Ekko: Vi? Y/n?
Vi was the first to respond. Your hand on her shoulder as she looked up at Ekko.
Vi: I can't leave her again.
You looked to your sister as she spoke. You felt like she had wanted to do this since the four of you had set out. Wanted to go back to her. And no matter what you were going to be there to join her. You were going to be there when the two of you got your sister back. You looked back up towards Ekko and Caitlyn. A steely determination passing over you as you spoke.
Y/n: We won't leave her again.
Slowly you heard Ekko speak up. Trying one more time to convince the two of you that she was gone.
Ekko: You two can't change her.
Vi: We have to try.
You heard Ekko scoff slightly as he turned. Walking up to the two of you as you both wrapped him in a hug.
