To most of the guild Laxus was still just a kid, but gramps finally let him join with a smile on his face and a you're so persistent sigh.

Needless to say, Laxus was bouncing up and down on his heels in joy before giving his grandfather a tight hug and a thank you thank you thank you.

The guild had celebrated him loud and obnoxiously and the young boy loved it all, grinning from ear to ear trying to find his father in the crowd with little success.

He had naturally expected his father to be back at the house. Maybe writing up spells of taking care of chores Laxus had failed to complete. (Dad would not like that, but the house was way to big for a single adult and child)

But there was only silence, and Laxus felt his smile fade away.
