Zosia's POV
" Emma! Dinner is ready!" I called. I didn't really have the guts to tell her right now. I could ask Dom to tell her tomorrow when I go to work. But I doubt my father will let me go. Emma came down the stairs and I handed her her spag bol.
As we sat down, she asked me again, "What did mum give you?" I didn't want to lie to her this time but I had to tell her.
"Emma, I have a condition called bipolar. It affects my emotions. There's nothing to be worried about, you can't catch it. I have to take these tablets, they help control my mood swings." I replied.
"Do you have them every day?" Said Emma.
"I have to take them every day but I don't have an episode often. Listen, Emma, tomorrow is my mother's anniversary of her death, and I asked your mother, and you will be spending the day with Colette. Sorry."
"Are you sure, I could help you if you wanted?" Emma asked.
"No love, it's fine, but thank you for the offer."
"Okay." replied Emma.
Emma's POV
It was around half eleven when I heard the sniffles of who only could have been Zosia. I grabbed a glass of water and crept into Zosia's room. I felt awkward, but at the same time, I knew she needed someone. Just as I crept in, I saw this weird kind of lamb on the side with Zosia's name written on the label. It must have been her childhood toy. I felt incredibly sad for her, I knew that if I lost either of my parents, I'd be in pieces. " Zosia? Are you all alright? " I said. All I heard was sniffles. I decided to go around the other side of her bed and give her the glass of water and some tissues. "Zosia? I heard your sniffles, I brought you a glass of water and some tissues."
"Thank you, darling, I was just about to get up and go to the loo actually." She replied, clearly in need of a hug of some sort.
"Zosia, I'm sorry about your mother. Would you like a hug? " I asked.
"Yes, and thank you." As she got up, I hugged her as I would do to my mother. As I can tell by her expression, she felt a little better. I asked if she wanted my company, and she said that she would manage. I gave her the lamb that was on the side and said softly, "I'm sure he would enjoy your company." She looked at him and broke down in tears. "Zosia, will you really manage?" I sat on the edge of her bed and waited until she fell asleep. I remember my Mum doing the same for me when my cat, Kochaine, passed away. Apparently, 'kochaine' means sweetie or something in another language. My mum likes it though. I tucked her in before I went to bed, I thought of her now as more of an aunt, not just a friend.
