(There's alot of fanfictions out there where the reader is a criminal...but what if the reader wanted to be a cop instead? That is when this fanfiction came to life! Enjoy!)
(Your POV)
I stared out at the busy streets of LA, watching the cars zoom past. I made a mental note of just how fast they were going just in case there happened to be a couple of speeders. You'd be surprised how many of those come through the boulevard. How would I know? Well, you kinda have to when you work in the same force that I do.
My name (Y/n) Coyote. And I work in the L.A.P.D. (Las Angeles Police Force).
Now I know that sounds wacky! I bet you're thinkin' "How in the world did a coyote sneak her way into the police force!?"
Well, you can settle down now, cause technically I didn't sneak my way in! I owe my fabulous job to my lifelong friend, Misty Luggins, who just so happens to be the chief of the city's police!
I guess I have to explain myself, don't I?
Everybody in LA knows that Misty-ahem!-Chief Luggins has made it her life's work to capture a gang of criminals known as "The Bad Guys." The crew consists of Mr. Snake, the safe-cracking eastern brown snake; (He's a very big snake considering how long the common eastern brown snake usually gets.) Miss tarantula (Also known as Webs), a red-knee tarantula who has a knack for hacking into just about any security system you could possibly throw at her; Mr. Pirahna, a red bellied piranha who's just plain crazy, and he's not afraid to show it. (He's bitten so many people in the past, he puts the bites of cliche piranha films to shame!) Then you got Mr. Shark, a big great white shark who happens to be a master of disguise; (I'm not even sure how he makes them work! You'd think he has trouble finding disguises that actually fit him, let alone make it capable of sealing his true identity!) And then, you've got the leader of the gang, the sly pick pocketer and getaway driver known as Mr. Wolf.
Anyway, Misty has been trying to lock the Bad Guys away for years! But that doesn't mean that she dislikes anthropomorphic animals altogether. Oh no!
This, people, is the part where I explain myself!
~~~~~~
If you were an animal that was depicted by society as a monster, then your life was gonna be difficult. Coyotes didn't have it quite as hard as wolves did, but it wasn't easy for us to get by in life all the same. My family lived a decent life, all things considered, but when it came to our social life, well, that was a different story.
You see, when I was in middle school, I had a very hard time making friends simply for the fact because I was a coyote. The kids there would either make fun of me or run away from me. It was clear that they didn't want me there. Some of the kids even mistook me for being a wolf! I mean, sure, our species are practically cousins, and I got why people didn't really like coyotes; most liked to hunt down the main sources of meat, which humans would do too in order to bring food home to their families.
I got why people didn't like coyotes...but did they have to look at me that way? I wasn't trying to be bad or hurt anyone! I just wanted to get through life with at least one friend! Was that so much to ask for?
