"Screams are all I can recall from that fateful night, yes.. The night that set the course for my future. It was in October.. The 13th at 2:57 am, I'll never forget it no matter how young I was, It will haunt me forever... But that is to be expected right? Something so traumatizing, that you'd think it only happened in movies but this.. is no movie, no, This is my life."
---------------------------------------------
I was sleeping next to my father as my mother wasn't in the room after an argument they had earlier that day. While sleeping I heard a blood curling scream coming from down the hall, as the room had begin to get increasingly warmer. "It's hot, Why is it so hot?" I thought to myself, before I was ripped up out of the bed and into my fathers arms who covered my nose and face burying me in a jacket while I couldn't tell what was going on I knew it possibly wasn't good as the screams continued even I was crying from the confusing, "Why is mommy screaming?" I thought to myself as i heard my father choking while he ran down the stair case a board had fallen onto the railing, and my father was hit in the shoulder by it, I know this from lifting my head up and watching it happen. while he told me to keep my head down I couldn't manage to listen.
"What is happening? Why is the house on fire? Where Is Mommy?" I couldn't stop thinking about those questions as I watched the crimson flames take over the house and all within it. Father was enduring so much pain to get me out of the house but before he could reach the entrance another part of the ceiling had caved in. But this time there was flames rising from the wood, My father had fell onto his knees and looked at me in my eyes, and with a raspy cough filled voice he told me to run to the door, don't look back and just run. and while i screamed and refused with what strength he had left he grabbed the jacket wrapped around me and pulled me over to him.
"Listen Lucis, You are to young to end like this you must live on, for me and your mother's sake, please Lucis you must promise me that you will live... now get out while you have the chance!" He yelled, as I stood there crying for my mother, only to no response My father coughed more and more yelling my name demanding I leave as I was beginning to fall weak from the smoke, my father took his ring off of his finger and put it in my hand and told me to keep it, I held it tightly in my fist my father who was crying told me one final thing. "Lucis, Your mother and I love you dearly so take this ring and cherish it as we do you. we will always be with you no matter what happens but right now I need you to leave this house! Please Lucis I'm begging you! Leav--" Before he could finish his sentence the light fixture had fallen directly onto his head instantly killing him, with blood splattered over my face and clothes I stepped back and screamed as I ran out of the house screaming for help from anyone. but it was no use when I reached the driveway, I was to lightheaded and fainted hitting my head on the headlight of the car... the next thing I remember is hearing strange voices around me. "What do we do with the kid? We can't leave him here!" A voice had said with an anxious tone, Another voice answering "Well, Boss told us to make sure everyone was dead. and if this kid is theirs then... Killing him should be easy he barely looks like he will survive the night so why not just leave him there?" with a irritated tone, "Are you Insane? we can't kill a CHILD! Why don't we take him and see what boss says, Maybe he'll adopt him? I mean the kid isn't to blame is he?" the male with the anxious tone replied, the other male had sighed then I felt myself being lifted into someone's arms
"but I couldn't bring my eyes to open I was depressed and witnessed my father and mothers death I was only five years of age, How was I supposed to feel about what all just happened? My parents they, had explained to me before what death was because they felt such important things shouldn't be kept from me although I wished they would have, Maybe then I wouldn't have suffered so much... If I didn't understand. "
---------------------------------------------
As I felt myself being carried off, I clenched the ring in my hand tighter "As long as I pretend I'm still asleep they won't harm me right?" I thought to myself I was terrified but unable to show it so I forced myself to stay as still as I possibly could so they wouldn't notice I knew they was there... But in the end it wouldn't matter as I would have to face them at some point. With the sound of two arguing as they walked, it had became harder to remain silent.. I nearly opened my eyes to scream for help when I heard a car door open and felt myself being tossed into the seat but the door wasn't shut behind me when the one who recommended taking me back was told to secure me, In case of an escape attempt. I didn't understand what he meant by that until my left arm was grabbed and forced behind my back before they grabbed my right arm I was able to hide the ring because the way I was positioned they wouldn't had noticed if I moved my right hand, It was only a second before my right arm was grabbed and forced behind my back as well, I was terrified there was nothing I could do. but bite my tongue, and think about my parents although it only caused more sadness. They was all I wanted to see in that moment. nobody else just them.
