Chapter Seven - Pure Filth

The end of year ball was only about a month and a half away and since every single student in seventh year was gonna be there they already began setting up the ball room and they offered extra credit for anyone who volunteered to help. So me and Jess now found ourselves in an empty ballroom, setting up tables and decorations. Jess held the bottom of a ladder as I climbed up to hook up a banner. Normally I would just use a spell but they said I had to be done manually or no credit for whatever reason. I reached up and tried to get the banner straight.

"Does that look good?"

I asked Jess and looked down at her

"Your panties or the banner?"

I laughed and almost kicked her in the face

"Shut up"

I said and she laughed before saying it was good. I hooked it and climbed down the ladder

"If I knew we were gonna be doing this I wouldn't have worn a skirt"

I said and Jess smirked

"Its cool I got a nice view"

I slapped her arm and she just laughed again. With a last look at the banner I walked over and sat at one of the few tables we had set up, she sat across from me.

"I honestly thought more people would volunteer, it's gonna take forever with just the two of us"

Jess shrugged

"At least we can gossip and sing at the top of our lungs and no one can stop us"

I smiled at her and nodded

"...Very true"

The next hour consisted of off key singing from a muggle movie called "Heathers" we had watched a few months ago as we pushed tables around. The screeching of the table legs just added to the experience and matched our voices. We finished another song and started giggling as we placed about the fiftieth table.

"Ugh my arms are starting to hurt"

Jess said and I agreed

"Let's just get the chairs for this table and than grab some lunch"

Me and Jess walked back over to the piled up chairs and grabbed two each. Just as we put them down the ball room doors opened and three people walked in. Dumbledore, Hagrid and Remus. I smiled at Remus and than looked over to Dumbledore as he spoke.

"Sorry if I interrupted anything, but I just came to thank you girls for helping set up, lt sure is a lot of work for just two of you"

I smiled and spoke

"Oh its no problem headmaster, plus we do get extra credit"

He smiled and nodded

"I'll be sure to be generous with it as well, but I brought Hagrid to help with lifting some of the heavier items and Professor Lupin also offered his services"

Jess whispered to me

"I guess our break will have to wait"

I shrugged and thanked headmaster. He walked out and left the four of us in the room. As soon as he left, Jess groaned loudly and leaned her head against the wall, I giggled and so did the boys.

"We were about to take a break but I guess not yet"

Hagrid spoke

"You girls rest fur'a little"

He said and I then told him some of the things that had to he moved, speakers, the large banquet table and a few other heavy things. He got to work and I took a breath as Remus smiled at me.
