Chapter Four - The Proposal

"You have made this the most amazing birthday"

I said and Remus smiled.

"I may have one more surprise tonight"

He said and I turned to him with a questioning look...

"Oh and what would that be?"

I asked sitting up and crawling onto of him resting my head on his chest. I heard his heartbeat speed up immensely. I turned my head and sat up so I could look down at him. He was blushing and wouldn't meet my gaze.

"Remus? Dear are you okay?"

I asked and he took a deep breath before looking at me with a smile

"Yes I'm fine but just... no forget it, it was a bad idea"

I smiled softly at him

"Well now you gotta tell me"

I said with a giggle as I stared down at him. He sighed and moved me so I was sitting next to him instead of on top and he sat up looking away

"No honestly it was stupid I shouldn't have brought it up"

He said sadly, standing up and walking to his dresser as he unbuttoned his shirt. Worry filled me as I crawled to the end of the bed and looked at him. I knew it couldn't have been that bad since he was originally excited for it so what could he be so worried about.

"Remus?"

He hummed in response but didn't look at me. I sighed

"Remus?"

I said louder and more stern this time, he took a breath and turned to me

"Yes my love?"

He looked nervous but forced a smile

"Your worrying me"

I said my voice falling to a sweet whisper.

He sighed and smiled walking over.

"Do you really want to know?"

He asked softly and I nodded placing my hand on his as he sat down

"Okay but don't be mad"

He said and I tilted my head. He reached into his bedside drawer and pulled out a small velvet box, opening it to reveal a ring with small dimonds decorating the band and a slightly larger one right in the middle. My heart jumped and I stammered

"R-Remus I... um is that what I think it is?"

I said with a sweet look and he blushed.

"I was going to ask you to marry me"

He said and I took in a breath and I tried to calm but I started rambling

"We haven't even been together for a year! This is a lot"

Remus looked away worried

"Oh lord it's too much"

I stopped him

"No no not too much... just... a lot"

"I bet it's a lot to think about"

I smiled

"Nothing to think about... I don't ever want to be with anyone else-"

Remus looked at me surprised but happy

"But what do I do...how do I tell Jess...-"

My face dropped

"...How do I tell my parents"
