lawrence's pov
After two hours of driving through traffic and abrupt conversations we finally stop the car in front of the shopping center.
The neon lights above the buildings shone like beacons highlighting their names and products. After parking, we walk into the deserted circle at the center of the stores. Gold fairy lights lined the roofed walkways around two fountains and palm trees.
I take Avery to an empty corner furthest away from the food courts and stores.
"What are we doing here?" she asks, confused. "The stores are that way," Avery points to the other stores.
"Not every store is visible you know," I reply, knocking on the wall in front of us and waiting. Nothing happens.
"Are you on drugs or something?" she snickers, "Because that would explain a lot."
Amusement paints Avery's face until the wall shifts then swings inwards revealing a bright white room behind it. When we get inside the wall shuts behind us.
"Wow," Avery whispers under her breath.
A receptionist behind a white desk gestures to us.
Selene Whillis, a talented assassin, one of the best in fact.
We go back.
"Hello, Mr. Bane. Welcome back," Selene greets us in an accent similar to mine. She smiles, pearly white teeth glowing behind plump lips. Her curls were tied at the top of her head under a headband that matched her white dress.
"Follow me please," she says with a smile.
She got up from her chair exposing a plunging v-line to show us to the room connected to the wall behind her desk.
The back room was filled with exquisite clothes. Tops and bottoms filled the racks and dresses lined the walls all made of the finest materials. The softest cottons and smoothest silks from all over the world.
Avery's eyes widen in awe, sparkling like a galaxy.
Selene however disappeared into another room behind a wall full of hanging dresses. She later emerged with two dresses covered with white garment covers.
"For you, miss.. ?" she asks Avery.
"Hernandez," Avery responds, "but call me Avery."
"A pleasure to meet you, Avery." she smiles with a look of attraction in her eyes that burns my skin.
"Could you try on the one underneath first?" I eye the blue wisps of silk leaking out of the covering.
Avery's expression flips and she frowns in my direction. "Sure."
The receptionist takes her to a circular change room made up by a curtain while I take a seat on the bench in the center of the store.
Avery's silhouette dances behind it as she strips out of her work clothes and pulls the dress over her head. She comes out in a navy dress with a cowl neck.
"What do you think?" Avery asks.
You look breathtaking.
The silk fell around her legs in a blue waterfall, swishing as she walked closer to me.
"Well?" she gestures broadly.
"This doesn't match the masks, try the other," I respond. It did look wonderful, yes, but who wants to look so simple at a gala?
