They've grown to love the vents. Seeking shelter within its metal sanctuary brought a sense of comfort and safety Purple hadn't felt since they discovered they had the ability to disappear and the others wouldn't even so much as blink. They were hated. Forgotten. Tortured.
Most of all, relieved that they were to escape the constant torment and...issues the others seemed to have with them. They weren't sure, but Blue's insults and Green's beatings had taken their toll. Hating themselves and their looks to the point where they hid away in the vents so the world wouldn't see their ugliness. Or even anything resembling themselves whatsoever. The others had been hunting down these humans or whatever before someone bothered purple by knocking on the vent they resided in. How did Orange even know they were here anyway?
"...What?"
Orange glared at them. The little dragon's creature arms folding and their trembling stature (they'd only just been fed-) leering at Purple before looking around him. No humans were there so technically they weren't breaking Green's rule.
Don't talk around humans.
"Green wants you to participate. His eyes and arms are a little wonkier than usual. He's taking a break and desires you to be prepared."
...How could his limbs be wonky? Green was freaking blind. Regardless, Purple sighed and nodded along to Orange's ramblings. Orange never physically hurt them. They were okay in Purple's book. They could tolerate the Orange rainbow friend unless he stayed around longer than necessary.
"Yeah, yeah, Orange. I'll be ready in a few minutes. How long 'till the humans are ready?"
"The scientist guy reckons a few minutes until they wake up. The knockout gas was stronger than he anticipated."
Purple couldn't help but snort at the prospect of the scientist actually miscalculating his theories. Orange noticed this and growled deeply. The other immediately deceased, breath hitching in a moment of weakness before one of Orange's claws snatched their wrist. Their scarred arm pulled and revealed much to the horror of the other rainbow friend.
"Orange don't! Please! I'm sorry! I won't do it again!"
All Orange did was gaze at them with misplaced anger. A fire setting off in their eyes and Purple thought it was aimed towards them. Orange tugged Purple close and a claw lifted their chin. Meeting him eye to eye. He needed the truth from Purple.
"Who did this to you?"
Purple tensed, then they tilted their head, non-existent brows furrowing in confusion.
"...No one."
"Tell me the truth, Purple. Now."
The rainbow friend managed to snag their wrist out of Orange's grasp. Looking the mascot in the eye before pausing as they peered behind him, then fleeting into the vent. Banging sounds echoing throughout the facility as Orange turned to his answer at the question.
No.
The mascot was the friendliest in the facility. He wasn't sure if Purple was hinting to the answers or their curiosity got the best of them. It couldn't be them. It couldn't be him. The one standing in front of Orange.
