Mirabel Madrigal woke up in the children's room, like every morning. The young girl got up, dressed, combed her hair, then she went downstairs to prepare the table for breakfast. Then she went to wake up her mother, her father, her sisters, her Abuela, her tia, her tios, her cousin and her cousins. After breakfast, everyone left to do their chores. Mirabel, having nothing to do today (their Abuela gave them days off during the week) she went for a walk in the forest. As she was walking, Mirabel stopped in front of the river that marked the end of Encanto. As she turned away, Mirabel slipped and fell into the river. The young girl gasped, and was about to get up, when the water began to freeze. We are, however, only in the spring. How the hell can water freeze in this season? Mirabel did not understand what had happened. She just wanted to get out of the water. As if nature were listening, the water became liquid again and the youngest Madrigal girl was able to come out. As she walked home, shivering and freezing, a gentle warm breeze came to dry her and warm her. Mirabel, taken aback, returned to the village. A dark-haired young man stopped Mirabel. The young man was madly in love with her, but not knowing how to act with her, he preferred to martyr her and humiliate her in front of her friends.

- Leave me alone, Marco.

- And if not what? The only Madrigal without a gift will cry in her mother's skirts?

It was too much for Mirabel. She was seething with anger, but tried to contain herself.

- Stop it, Marco, she hissed between her teeth.

But he didn't stop. Mirabel turned suddenly.

- I said, STOP!!

A wall of ice formed between Mirabel and Marco. The two teenagers were shocked. Mirabel looked at her hand, confused. When she looked up, she saw that the whole village had gathered around them. Mirabel drew back and ran away. The young girl ran to Casita, and took refuge in her room, which she double-locked. Mirabel settled down on her bed, and studied her hand. She had no gift, so she should never have been able to create a wall of ice, or freeze the river. It was simply impossible. And yet, she had done it.

- Mirabel? called Julietta. Do you hear me, mi querida?

- I hear you, mama. But I don't want to talk.

Julietta didn't understand why su hija was so secretive and silent. It wasn't her baby. Her princesa was usually cheerful and full of life. This child had nothing to do with her Mirabel.

- Please, mi corazón. I'm worried. You know you can tell mamá anything.

But Mirabel remained silent. Casita was not of the opinion that Mirabel Madrigal remained cloistered in her room, withdrawn into herself. The door unlocked and Mirabel was ejected from her room. The young girl was led to the steps that led to a golden wooden door. All the Madrigals stared at the door in amazement. After all, no child had no gift. None, except Mirabel. Alma Madrigal turned to her granddaughter, who looked confused. The miraculous lantern appeared near Alma, who took it in her hands. Alma invited her youngest niña to join her. Mirabel came forward, hesitant. The girl put her hands on the candle that had given them their gift, and climbed the steps, before turning to touch the doorknob. The door emitted a strong golden light, and Mirabel's first name was engraved on the wood of the door. Mirabel took a deep breath and opened the door.
