Request: The civil war is over and Koza, Vivi and (y/n) has a lot to do to build up the country again.
Story notes/warnings:
* Female Reader
* Reader is described to be shorter than Koza and on the smaller side thanks to the draught and famine
* Not a lot of Koza and Reader interaction, and honestly pretty short since I'm still trying to get into writing Koza

Growing up in a war torn country was anything other than easy.
(Y/n) watched a few of the former members of the rebel army finished the structure on a new house. They'd been working for hours, only stopping to eat and drink water.
"How are you feeling?"
(Y/n) looked up to see Vivi standing beside her. Her old friend had spent as much time helping to rebuild as she could. Something (y/n) wished she could do too. "The doctor says my arm is healing fine. I should be able to help with more than paperwork in about a month. A little more depending on any setbacks."
Vivi sat down. "You know that's not what I meant."
She sighed. "I know. I'm... mostly fine. Facing Crocodile... It left its scars, figuratively and literally." She motioned to her arm. The feeling of that hook going through her shoulder was one she'd never forget.
Having grown up in one of the less fortunate places in their country had left (y/n) smaller than she probably was supposed to be. Her years in the capital as a kid hadn't changed that.
Going against the Baroque Works probably hadn't been her best idea, but how could she abandon Vivi when she needed a friend the most?
"Have you talked to Koza?" Vivi asked.
(Y/n) nodded. "We talked briefly when he came back yesterday. He wants to sit down tonight."
They hadn't had a proper talk in such a long time, the thought of sitting down now made her stomach twist. She had no idea what he'd say to her.
"It's going to be fine." Vivi put a hand on her best friends shoulder. "You'll see."

A few people had been sharing a room filled with bunk beds, but now the only two left using that room was (y/n) and Koza, and so they decided to talk there.
Koza stood up already when she entered, his normal shades laying on a top bunk.
When she stepped inside his eyes zeroed in on her, or more specifically, her shoulder. He stepped closer, hand lightly brushing over the bandages. "I wish I had been there."
"You were needed elsewhere."
The sudden hug he pulled her into surprised her for a moment, then she melted into it. "I missed you."
"And I missed you too."
