"L, do you ever brush your hair?" Light asked, staring at the back of the older boy's head.

L turned around "What? Why?"

"It's like a rat's nest,"

"Rude,"

"Yeah, yeah," Light went into the bathroom to grab a brush and detangling spray. When he got back he plopped onto the couch. Light spread his legs and patted the space "C'mere. Sit,"

L looked at him with narrowed eyes, but settled between Light's legs anyways "You better not hurt me,"

"Aww, c'mon. Don't you trust me?" He joked.

"No,"

Light chuckled "Well, don't worry. I used to brush Sayu's hair all the time,"

L just grunted.

"All right, close your eyes,"

"Why?" L still closed his eyes

"Because I'm going to spray some detangling spray, so it doesn't hurt as much to brush, and I don't want it to get in your eyes," Light explained while spraying it onto the bird's nest of hair.

"It smells like apple candy and old people," L observed

Light hummed as he grabbed the brush. He tried to pull it through L's hair.

L shrieked. "Ow!" He tried to pull away from Light.

Light wrapped his arms around L's waist "Nope! You're not getting out of this,"

"But it hurts," L whined

"And who's fault is that?"

"Yours,"

"No! When was the last time you even brushed your hair? This is ridiculous,"

"Like a fortnight ago. When I got syrup in it," L was still struggling in Light's arms

"See. Two weeks! That's too long,"

L stopped moving and crossed his arms "Well how often do you brush your hair? And I'll do it half as much as you,"

"When I wake up and before I go to bed, so twice a day,"

"That's ridiculous! Never mind! I take it back, I'm not brushing my hair everyday,"

"What if I do it for you?"

"...Maybe. Let's get this over with,"

"Alright," Light picked up the brush and started. After what felt like forever he had all the knots brushed out.

He ran his fingers through L's hair. L melted into the touch.

"That wasn't too bad. And look at how nice your hair is now,"

L groaned "My scalp hurts,"

"Well if you took care of your hair it wouldn't hurt as much,"

L stuck out his tongue

"What are you, a child?" But Light couldn't resist for long and stuck his tongue out too.

L looked down at his feet "Can you..." But then his voice trailed off into mumbles

"Can I what?"

L blushed, grabbed Light's and placed it on his head.

"You want me to play with your hair?"

L nodded

Light ran his fingers through L's thick hair for a few more minutes. Meanwhile L was basically boneless in Light's lap. He was smiling lazily.

"You're so pretty," Light said quietly

"What was that, Light?"

It was Light's turn to blush "Nothing, just that...uh...that your hair looks much nicer like this"

"Hmm okay,"

"Do you think we should get to work, L?"

L rolled off the couch onto the floor "You're probably right," He groaned as he stood up "Let's go, Light,"
