"KATIE WAKE UP!" I heard a scream from downstairs. It was the weekend so I didn't know why I had to wake up so early. "What?" I replied. "It's time we talk to you about this. I know this might be a little hard for you to understand, but-" my mother was cut off by my father. "Your mother here, has a problem with me." "Okay so now it's my fault I found you cheating on me? YOUR WIFE?!" My mother replied aggressively.
Did I hear that correct? My dad...was cheating on my mom? No. That's not the way this works. It's probably just a dream that's it. I slowly pinched myself and winced a little, scrunching up my nose and causing my parents to take notice. "Katie? Are you okay?" My mother asked, concerned. "Just her and her silly imagination. Why did we have a daughter so stupid?" My father reassured my mother. "What the hell, dad?!" I asked in almost a scream. "What the fuck are you talking about Mr. Tyler?" My mom said.
"Mr. Tyler?" My dad said in a aggressive tone. Not this again. No more fights. I completely muted them out. Later in the day my parents informed me that they were getting a divorce, and I was moving to Virginia with my mother. Wow. That's a lot to take in, in one freaking day.

About two weeks later, I found myself on a plane headed to Virginia. I had to start over in a new school. I was already hated enough at my school in California, so it would be nice to start fresh. After what seemed like an hour, I had realized I had fallen asleep on the shoulder of the guy next to me. He was really cute and when I woke up, he looked at me and didn't know what to say. I just sat there the whole time while he stared at me. "Is there a problem?" I said, getting insecure. "No..you're just..." "I'm just what!?" I snapped at him. "Never mind, what's your name?" He asked me, obviously trying to cover up what he just said. "Katie Ty-...Walsh. Katie Walsh." I said realizing my parents divorce. My dad was such a jerk and I refused to take his last name.
"Well Katie, I'm Matthew, and why are you heading to Virginia?" He said, taking me out of my endless thoughts. "Oh, I'm moving to Virginia. My parents had a..um...divorce and now we are moving into Virginia" I said back, not wanting to give to much information out. "So what grade are you in, Matthew?" I asked breaking the silence. "I'm a junior in high school...what about you?" He asked shyly. "I'm a junior too, so I guess we'll be seeing each other" I said trying not to make it awkward. The rest of the flight was silent, so I fell back asleep.

A small amount of time later, I felt strong hands lightly shaking me, waking me up. "Katie, we're in Virginia" Matthew said to me. Wow. So this was it huh? Finally moving away. As I got off of the plane, I had realized I had a few texts. That was a rare occasion, considering the fact I have no friends. I looked at the text and realized it was a new contact. It was Matt.
Matt💕: Hey Katie. While you were sleeping I added my contact.😊
I smiled and replied:
Me: Hey haha. Someone's a little forward huh?
Matt💕: Maybe, kinda...ok yeah I am.😂
While on the plane before I realized that Matt was really cute. He had a nice personality too, and I had seen him on vine before. He was my favorite. No no no Katie don't do this love at first sight thing. This isn't you. Stop. Matt's just a friend.
Matt💕:Hello? Katie?
Me:Yeah I'm still here. Just lost in thought I guess...
Matt💕: Okay, well I've got to go, want to meet me at the beach tomorrow at around 12:00?
Me:Yeah sure that'd be great😊.
I'm going to the beach with Matt. Well my friendships in Virginia have started off pretty quick. We pulled up to my house and when I got to my room my jaw dropped. At first I was amazed by the house, but now I'm amazed by the room. (Picture at beginning of chapter) "So what do you think?" My mom asked. I pointed at my jaw and she nodded smiling as wide as possible. I had a feeling Virginia was gonna be the best place for me.
