Being a new girl isn't always the best, especially if you're a nerd. I mean I'd say I'm a pretty girl. I have glasses, clear skin, amazing long brown hair, and gray eyes. In my old school, I was one of the pretty nerdy girls. But in this town I was a nobody, no one knew me and I knew no one. I used to live in New York with my mom and dad but after my mom died from cancer my dad got a new job and we had to travel a lot. We've moved almost 10 times now, state to state and city to city. And today was my first day at this new school called Harrison High school, oh did I mention I live in colorado springs?
"Amelia hurry up, I got a meeting after I dropped you off at school hurry up so we're both not late!" my father shouted from the kitchen.
"Ok, dad I'll be down a bit". I said putting on my right shoe.
I walk downstairs skipping a few steps on the stairs. I walk into the kitchen to see my dad standing at the counter waiting for me with my gray backpack in his hand and his keys in the other.
"You ready?" my dad said.
"Yeah, I believe so," I replied.
"So you're not forgetting your lunch?" dad said, looking at me and then tilted his head to the fridge.
"Oh, I forgot about lunch, thank you, dad," I said walking to the fridge and out the door.
After we got in the car I looked outside the window watching the trees, light posts, and cars go by as my anxiety got worse knowing I'm about to go to a new school with new kids I mean I've moved a lot but this time it feels different and I don't know if its a good different or bad.
I turned my head to the windshield and I noticed that we were at the school. I see kids playing and hanging out, outside of the school and kids walking into school talking to their friends laughing and smiling. I look to the side of the school to see couples making out and hugging.
"Amelia, it's your stop." dad stated.
"Ye... I see that dad, thanks for the ride. I love you." I said opening the car door and closing it behind me.
"I love you to have a good day and make friends please." dad replied before taking off to his meeting.
I walk up to the doors walking into the school realizing the school is much larger on the inside than on the outside. Immediately I see kids in the office. I see the cafeteria is filled with kids and teachers. I started to walk to my first art class. I entered the classroom to see my teacher sitting at her desk.
"Hey, you're the new kid, right? Amelia was it?" the teacher said.
"Ye amelia is my name," I responded awkwardly.
"Well as you can see this is your art class, do you like to do art?" she said, looking at me.
"Yeah I'm a really good artist, one of the best at my age, my old teacher told me," I responded looking at the ground and then back at her.
"Well, I'm excited to see what you bring into this classroom, my name is Mrs. Hill by the way." Mrs. Hill said, smiling at me. "So we got a seating chart and since you knew I chose to sit you next to Mr. Grayson here." Mrs. Hill said pointing at an empty seat next to another kid early to this class.
"Ok thanks," I responded walking to my seat.
I set my stuff down on the side of the table and sat next to the boy at my table. We sat there in silence. He was on his phone and I took out my supplies for class. I looked through my bag for my sketchbook and placed it in front of me. I then grabbed my pencil case and looked for my pencil when I realized I didn't have a pencil.
"Hmm that's weird I thought I brought my pencil," I whispered.
"If you need a pencil I can give you one," Grayson said, still looking at his phone.
