Chapter 6: Hope

You still feel a little dizzy from the battle against Copperhead and sit down on some of the rubble. Boy, who is still a Kaiju, is struggling to free himself from the fallen debry, roaring and thrashing his head about. You can see that Hayley is very distressed as she continues to try and calm Boy down.

Hayley: BOY! Please, just... just calm down. We want to help you.

Boy lets out a loud roar and you see Taylor approach Hayley and pull her away from the Kaiju.

Taylor: Hayley get away from it!

Hayley: He's scared that's all! Now let me go!

You see Hayley throw away Taylor's arm and step away from him.

Hayley: He's in pain. He needs us.

Taylor: No Hayley! Boy isn't in there anymore!

Hayley: You don't know that!

Taylor: I know that if it had the chance, it would kill all of us!

Hayley: Then what do want to do? Leave him here to die?

Taylor doesn't answer.

Hayley: He's our family.

Taylor: Our family is out there and we have to find them.

They look at each for a while without a word when Mei speaks up.

Mei: You're both crazy. Boy is gone, and so are your parents. Now, so am I.

You watch Mei turn a start walking away.

Y/N: Mei, wait.

She doesn't though. You then see Taylor start walking toward her.

Taylor: Boy may be gone, but our parents are still out there.

Mei: Kid, I know everything about the Black. Trust me, there dead.

Taylor: Don't confuse your life with ours Mei. We don't give up that easily.

Mei: I've seen what hope does to people who lose it.

Taylor: Oh yeah, well you're a pretty good example.

Mei turns around to face Taylor with a very angry expression.

Mei: You can live in denial for as long as you want, because we're parting ways here. Sound good?

Taylor: Fine.

They both turn and walk away.

Y/N: Mei, hold on!

You get up and run to catch up with Mei and pass Taylor.

Taylor: Forget it Y/N. She won't change her mind.

You pause for a moment but keep running anyway.

Mei: *Sigh*, you're wasting your time Y/N. I'm done with helping those kids.

Y/N: Why do always put everything in a negative light. What's wrong with having a little hope.

She turns, clearly frusterated.

Mei: Because when you finally face the truth, that hope will break you and you'll end up crashing and burning like everyone else! And I don't want to be there when it happens.

You're stunned by those words, and hear crumbling from behind you. You turn and see Boy staggering toward Hayley, no longer a Kaiju.

Mei: Now she'll never let him go.

You suddenly hear growling and roars from a distance. You see Boy run away toward the sounds and Hayley and Taylor chase after him.

Y/N: You may be right. We may end up facing a truth we don't want to face. But, that doesn't mean we have to stop fighting. They have something to fight for, and I'm willing to help. I just hope you can find something worth fighting for too.
