Forbidden Love

Chapter 5

Princess Florence POV:

"What in heavens name has happened to you?" My mama exclaimed

"We fell" The Prince mumbles

"Looks as if my daughter has caught you in her shenanigans"

"Why is it always at my fault?" I fuss

"You always make it that way"

"I must get a bath" He cringes, walking away

"You will also" My mam fusses, seending me to my bed chambers.

My ladies pour the hot water into the bath and undress me.

"When will you stop being so reckless?" Nakia smiles.

"The day dogs start to speak"

"I was thinking..." I start

"Have you ever thought to stop? To stop thinking for a mere second?"

"No" I shrug

He groans and makes a sharp turn to one of the libraries.

"I have had enough of your adventures"

"You do not know of what you speak. It is a fresh day"

"I know what I speak. I would like it if you would either leave me be or join me to silently read"

"May I choose your book?"

"Will that urge you to stop speaking?"

"Perhaps"

He nods and I follow him.

I pick out my favorite book for him to read.

"A mystery?"

"Yes! I adore this book very much"

He rolls his eyes and hands it back to me. "Perhaps you shall read it instead"

"It is for you"

"I will not read such nonsense and neither will you. It will surely confuse your thoughts"

"My thoughts are just fine"

"I prefer poetry"

"Poetry can have adventure, yes?"

He nods and I run my finger along the spine of the books. "This one"

"I rather read something of my own"

"And what is the poetry that you enjoy?"

He goes silent and I glance at him.

"Why do you not speak?"

"I have nothing of note to say"

"Why do you fib?"

"I do not"

"Do not lie to me"

"I do not owe you an answer"

I take the book from his hand and look at it. A romance.

"You have quite the taste, Your majesty"

He snatches it back and walks away.

"There is not a thing wrong with being a romantic"

He does not reply and I skip in front of him.

"Why do you not speak? Are you ashamed"

"Ashamed? You do not make me feel an ounce of shame"
