Jonathan's POV

While sitting in Will's room and trying to comfort him I heard my mother scream. I knew something wasn't okay and I had to help. I made sure Will was okay, took a deep breath and walked out of the room.
And there I saw it... My mother was on the floor, crying and screaming as my dad (I hate calling him that) approached her to hit her again. I ran to him and pushed him off. He fell on the floor and stood back up with a grunt.

"I see you've gotten stronger son" Lonnie
stated.

I felt more furious than ever. How dare he even call me son after everything he has done to our family.

"Don't call me that again" I mumbled.

Will's POV

I didn't listen to my brother's advice. As soon as he left the room I removed the headphones from my ears. And that's when I heard something that shattered my heart into millions of pieces. My mom
sobbing and screaming. I knew something bad had happened because my mother is a fighter. She doesn't cry unless things get tense. I couldn't join the fight. Jonathan wouldn't allow me to. So I did something else. I ran to the house phone and dialled 911. I could hear my mom's heavy breathing in the living room while Jonathan was probably fighting with my dad. After just some seconds somebody picked up the phone.

"You're speaking with chief of police Jim Hopper. What's your emergency?"

"I'm Will. Mom and Dad are fighting and he hit her really bad. Now he's fighting with my brother and I don't want things to get worse. My mom is not okay we need you please." I muttered between sobs. I couldn't help but cry."

"Take a deep breath for me kiddo and tell me your last name." Hopper said in a calming voice.

"B-byers I'm Will Byers. My dad's name is Lonnie... Please be fast I don't think my brother can take it anymore and my mom is screaming in pain. Help us p-please." I was now stuttering. I couldn't take it. I knew I wasn't strong enough.

"Byers..." Hopper sighed. "Help is on the way young man. Please try keeping yourself calm by taking deep breaths. It won't last long I promise." He reassured me.

"Thank you. Thank you Mr. Hopper." I managed to say and closed the phone. My thoughts were running like crazy inside of my head. What if he hurts my brother as well and then comes for me. What if the police can't fight him. What am I saying...of course they can. This man was so sweet to me. My dad has never spoken to me that way. "Kiddo..." My dad never called me that. To him I'm worthless.

While I was trapped inside of my thoughts I heard a knock on the door.
I somehow managed to dodge my dad and open the door as soon as possible. That's when a tall man with a beige suit walked inside of the house.

Hopper's POV

As soon as I heard the name Byers I knew who I was about to deal with. Lonnie Byers... The man who took Joyce away from me and is now treating her like garbage. This time I wouldn't just let it slide like that.

I didn't let any time get wasted. I ran inside of my car and speeded to the Byer's home that fast that I even thought of giving myself a speeding ticket.

The storm was only getting worse on my way but as I approached the house Joyce's sobs and screams and Lonnie's voice were even louder than the thunders.

I knocked on the wooden door, frightened of what I was about to witness. The boy that was on the phone opened the door for me. His face was all red and wet from the tears, his hair was a mess and I noticed he had the mark of a hand on his cheek. Lonnie got him too... i thought.

"MY MOM PASSED OUT HELP US PLEASE" The poor boy whined.

"Go to your room please. I promise everything is going to be okay. Trust me. Take your brother with you." I said in a calm voice even though I was anything but calm.

The young boy did exactly as I said so.
The floor creaked as I walked inside. It looked like a murder scene. Lonnie was chasing after the kids and Joyce was passed out in the middle of the living room with her head on the fireplace. I hoped the injury wasn't that bad.

I went after Lonnie and grabbed his arm. He looked surprised when he turned around and saw me. I was probably the last person he expected to see right now.

"Look who's here... My old pal Jimmy."

I wouldn't let him get to me. I had to finish my job.

"This is chief of police Jim Hopper" I said while showing him the golden badge that was shining on my chest.
"You are under arrest for mental and physical abuse to your wife and kids. You have every right to remain silent. Everything you say can and will be used against you in court of law" I said in a very serious tone while placing the handcuffs in his hands.

"Oh come on Jim. Don't tell me you believe Will. He's dumb. He must've seen one of his nightmares again. And Joyce is just asleep. She's dumb as well. That's why she sleeps with her head on the fireplace. I was actually about to light up a fire by the way hahahha." Lonnie cheered.

I didn't say a word. His breath smelled like whiskey. So not only was he an abuser but an alcoholic as well.

I took him out of the house and pushed him inside of the police car. Glad Flo was there with me because there is no way I'd just leave the kids and Joyce by themselves.
