Milly POV
3 hours later
Every minute of this has been hell. I've had endless contractions for the last 3 hours. I'm only 4.5 cm dilated. I've tried everything, I've walked around the halls, did exercises on a medicine ball, and exercises I don't even know the name of. My cervix just doesn't want to dilate. The only option is to either wait it out or have a c-section, and honestly a c-section would probably be the better choice in the situation. Because it finally hit me that I'm going to have to push 3 babies out, not just one.
The doctor walked in holding a clipboard.
"Mrs. Barnes, after looking at the ultrasound it seems that two of the babies aren't in a birthing position. If you do decide to not to a c-section it could hurt one of the babies, or they just won't come out."
Me and Ben look at each other, he nods at me, probably signaling that we should have the c-section.
I look over at the doctor, "Can we plan the c-section?" He nods, telling us about what will happen during the c-section, and all the other information we needed to know. He also said I needed an epidural and the anesthesiologist should be coming soon.
Soon the doctor left to get everything ready and the anesthesiologist came in to give the epidural. The lady was very nice and she talked me through everything they were going to do.Time skip because I don't really want to write about getting an epidural ✌️
After about 30 minutes the epidural started working and they were ready for the c-section. Erin told me she called my family and some of Ben's family to tell them about me going into labor. Honestly me and Ben were both so caught up about me going into labor we forgot to call our family. Almost all of both mine and Ben's family all live out of state so they won't be here for maybe a couple of days at least. The closest family member is my oldest brother Jacob. Who still lives out of state, but it's the state next to us. Knowing my parents however they will still find the first plane they can book, even if it the plane takes off at 1 am.
The nurses and doctor came in and started getting me ready. They also started getting Ben into those weird scrub things you have to wear. The doctor talked to us about the plan for the c-section, what they were going to do, and what to expect.
Right before we left for the operating room Erin and Jon came to see us one last time before we had the boys. At the end of the conversation both me and Erin had tears in our eyes. I was mostly emotional because this would be the last moments before me and Ben had 3 little boys to take care of. Erin was just on the verge of tears because I was. That's how we have always been. If I was crying then Erin was crying, if I was happy then Erin was happy, etc. Jon gave Ben a pep talk, which made me and Erin even more emotional. It's just so crazy to think if I had never met Erin then I wouldn't be married to Ben. Funny enough Erin brought me on set of The Punisher just so I could meet Ben, because quote "Y'all would look so cute together." And of course she was right, she always was. In fact she introduced our other two best friends to their future husbands. It's just crazy how time flies.
After Jon and Erin say their goodbyes the nurses wheel me into the operating room. Once we get to the room they get everything set up. They get the tools, the beds for when the babies are out, and the weird sheet they have to put to shield me from seeing my stomach.
After about 5 minutes they are ready to start.
"Okay Milly you are going to feel some pressure, it shouldn't hurt but if it does tell me okay?" I nod my head as a start holding Ben's hand. "Everything is going to be okay love. You're going to do great babe. I love you." Ben says as they start the c-section.
The doctor starts the c-section, and luckily there is no pain. Some pressure and it feels a little weird but no pain. Ben is at my side the whole time giving me updates and praises. Which really helped because I started to get nervous.
"I love you baby your doing great okay, we are finally going to have our baby boys wi-" he words were cut off with a high pitched cry. Roman Jon Barnes was born.
The doctor yelled out his birth time: 2:29 pm. But we could barely hear because his scream was so loud. Like really loud. Ben and I looked over at our baby and we bursted out crying. "He's a beautiful baby." He says in tears. Roman was a smaller baby with almost no hair on his head except for some black straight hairs. He looked a lot like me but has Ben's nose and lips, and boy did he also have some good lungs. His scream could probably be heard in the waiting room.
They hurry and take Roman so they prepare for the other two boys and also so they could weigh him, and measure him. I was sad I wasn't able to hold him however.
But before I could be sad for much longer another loud cry erupted. Ben held my hand harder. The doctor yelled out his birth time: 2:30 pm.
Calihan Alexander Barnes was born.
I got my first look at him. He was bigger than Roman with some chubbiness on him. He also had a full head of black curly hair and looked almost exactly like Ben. Also his scream was less deafening but still loud. I also realized he was also now the older twin.
Taking Calihan away for measurements you could still hear Roman screaming, but luckily he was calming down a little so his crying became more bearable.
Before our last baby boy was born the doctor told us Ben could cut the baby's umbilical cord if he wanted too. As soon as Ben heard that he wiped his tears and said he would do it. Honestly Ben looked surprised that they were actually going to let him since they didn't for the other two boys, but he seems excited.
Not long after the doctor said that we heard a tiny little cry. It was quiet but we could somehow hear it. The doctor said his birth time: 2:32 pm.
Connor Lee Barnes was born.
Ben walks over to cut his umbilical cord and let's out a laugh. I was confused of why he laughed at our baby until I got my first look at our youngest.
I looked over and expected another smaller baby since his cry was so quiet. But instead of a small little baby I see one of the chunkiest babies I've ever seen. This made me chuckle as well. He looked exactly like Calihan but WAY more chunky. I honestly didn't know a triplet could be that big. I bet he was the one kicking my ribs throughout the whole pregnancy too.
As I saw Ben cutting Connor's umbilical cord with tears in my eyes I start to remember the first ultrasound when we found out we were having triplets when Ben was so nervous after, I also remember the gender reveal when Ben found out we were having 3 littles boys. But even through all the rough times in my pregnancy. It was all worth it.
