"Be careful on the ice Sammy!", Dean yelled to his younger brother who was sliding on the frozen lake. "Yeah, whatever", Sam called back. Sam skated around on the ice so fast that he didn't notice the large rock sticking up and tripped and fell over it, bruising his cheek. "Dammit Sam!", Dean yelled in annoyance.
Dean looked down at his watch and realised that John, his father, probably won't be back for another hour or day or week - whichever suited him.
A large cracking sound filled the icy air. Dean looked up as soon as he heard the noise and over to the edge of the lake Sam was sliding around on. There was a large slit in the frozen ice that covered the lake and water was seeping through. "Get off the ice Sammy!", Dean screamed worringly. "Why?", Sam whined.
Suddenly, the ice began to to slowly break. Sam was in the middle of the lake and Dean was at the edge, not realising that they were slowly getting separated as the ice was moving apart. Then, a huge chunk of ice that Sam was standing on, broke off. Sam screamed in shock and fell into the dark, icy water. "No!" Dean cried with disbelief. He frantically searched for his phone so he could call for help but soon realised that there was no service. "Dammit", he mumbled under his breath. If only his father was here then maybe he could do something. But Dean was only fourteen, not strong enough to break the ice and get Sam out. He ran to the old, abandoned shack they've been staying in and grabbed a knife and hammer. He ran as he could with the cold air stinging his face.
When Dean reached the lake, he ran to the spot that Sam fell into and began hitting the ice, using the knife as an ice pick and the hammer as a mallet, but to no avail. Not even a crack appeared. Dean felt tears streaming down his face when he saw his little brother's shoe float up to the surface. But no Sammy.
Then Dean heard the engine of his father's '67 Chevrolet Impala approach the shack, stop and he heard the creaking of the car's door open and close. Dean started to panic. What was he supposed to tell John? He clearly stated to look after Sammy, but he failed his orders.
