Chapter 2

Noah

December 2

—Come on Noah get up— said Jayden who is my beta, cousin and best friend.

—No, it's our first day of vacation, no way I'm getting up that early, it's like 8am— I answered trying to cover myself with my pillow.

—Your parents said, they have to talk to us, I think it is about your birthday party— he explained before leaving my room.

I am Noah, I am the next alpha of this pack, but I am also going to be part of the Triangle, meaning the rulers of the werewolf species, there are other species too with their own government, but this is our and they are in charge, to keep peace in between werewolves and our secret from humans.

For centuries 3 wolves of the strongest bloodlines have ruled over the entire species, those 3 wolves are known as the Triangle and their sovereignty is not questionable.

Now back to my birthday, in three days I will turn eighteen, for werewolves that age means you can already find a mate or "mate" who would be the love of your life, the person you will have the strongest connection with on the planet, for most wolves their mate is usually someone they know or from the same pack, but Triangle members can receive a complete stranger as a mate, sometimes it's not even from the same pack, nature is wise, because that keeps the power from staying in the same pack, although others say that being a purer bloodline they feel connection with more wolves and that's why our mates can be anywhere.

That brings us back to the Triangle, my mother is one of the big three, yes, the three powerful Alphas that rule the packs, which by the way are spread out among different continents, my parents are in charge of America, while one of the other Alphas is in charge of Europe and Africa; therefore the last one is in charge of Asia and Oceania.

My cell phone rings next to me and takes me out of my thoughts.

—Get up, I mean it— Jayden says before hanging up.

I guess my parents really want to see me, so I get up and get ready to go to meet them. In packs, the Alpha's family lives in the same house and by family I mean his family that are his brothers and sisters. My father's brothers and sisters live with their respective families also here, while my mother is an only child.

—Good morning—I said, sitting down, they answered me and I began to eat breakfast.

—Noah, we will change the date of your birthday party— said dad.

—Why? —I asked.

—The Fierce pack wants to have a peaceful meeting with the Triangle, so since they live on this continent and in fact somewhat nearby, the Triangle expects us to be the ones to take over— the man explained slowly.

The Fierce pack was a moderately unruly pack located near the Canadian border with the United States, the way the pack handled themselves was very backward in the eyes of the Triangle and on numerous occasions they had to ask them to behave.

All their members in general were aggressive, had no respect for humans, a danger as they love to go around exposing our secret and were run in a very hierarchical manner, something most packs had left in the past.

—It's obvious I'm not going to take Sky to that place, so since Sky isn't going, you have to come—my mom didn't want to go, but these were the kind of responsibilities she and my father had to take on, yes or yes.

Of my two parents who inherited their place in the Triangle was my mother, so for her taking on responsibilities related to the Triangle was normal and bearable; me on the other hand did not feel ready for so much responsibility.

After breakfast Jayden and I started packing.

—What do you think they look like? —I asked Jay, he looked at me as he put his clothes away.

—My mom said they were formal like they lived in the middle ages and handled themselves that way for everything. She also said it wasn't a big herd, maybe sixty or eighty members but they were strong and love to fight—he replied.

—I hate having to spend my birthday surrounded by those people, I mean it's not like I'm going to meet my mate there, but they will delay the meeting— I said folding my clothes.

—Do you think you will be finding him or her, that quickly? — he asked.

—I don't know, as long as he or she is not in that pack, I can handle the wait—I replied.

—Can you imagine if it's one of those people, your mother would have a heart attack or something— he said laughing.

—What do you think they want, I don't think it's redemption, they're proud of the way they are— I said thoughtfully.

—I know that ten years ago they burned a boy for being gay and not accepting his partner who was a woman, although it seems that the girl was lying and he was not her partner, but they didn't care about that, they still killed him and then they cut the throat of a couple of people for trying to help the boy to escape— said Jayden.

What kind of animals do that to a living thing.

—How come they didn't banish them? —I asked in bewilderment.

—They tried, but the Alpha of that pack refused to be expelled, he said that if they tried to banish him there would be a war— replied Jayden.

I was mad at the fact that we were going to ignore all that happened.

—I will not sit at the table with those beasts," I said angrily.

—I thought we were clear in not letting Noah know about what happened— said my father looking at Jayden, he didn't do it in a bad way or with anger, but as I was furious I put myself in front of Jayden.

—You know I wouldn't hurt him—said my father calmly and sitting on his desk, well he is always like that, calm.

—Jayden please leave us alone— Jay left the place.

—The good thing is that your Alpha instincts are coming to the surface, son we will go there, because they want to apologize for what happened, at that time the war they proclaimed was not necessary and no doubt they were not going to bring those people back, that's why we are going to leave it for the healthy half where we both lose and accept peace—he explained,

—His false apologies a decade later didn't either— I said leaving the place, it didn't seem right to accept something like that.
