THE FIRST THING INESSA NOTICED WAS THE SHEER, UNADULTERATED HORROR ON YOUR FACE.

Fear oozed out of your every pore like a thick, black sludge, concealing any semblance of your usual docile expression. Wrinkles carved from worry and panic lined the corners of your eyes and your forehead, making you appear decades older, as your lips mouthed silent words muffled by the mild ringing in her ears.

"Wake...wake up...please..."

Your voice sounded so distant, so unreachable that Inessa faltered to strain her ears to listen. It was like you were on a different plane of existence, yelling at her through a mere mirror that connected your worlds.

She groaned. Slowly, she blinked, watching the world come into focus and her senses stabilizing with every breath she took. The veil of sleep still hung over her like a white fog as she sluggishly forced herself upright, umber eyes flickering to your distressed ones.

Her mouth moved, the syllables that tumbled out stifling the yawn that bubbled in her throat. "_____? Is that you?"

"Yes, it's me. We have to leave. Now." The tone in your voice was clipped with anxiety as you hurriedly ushered her down from her bed, barely giving her enough time to slip on her leather boots.

"What? Why? Is something wrong?" She blurted out, confusion dancing across her features.

You fiddled with the strap of the crossbody bag thrown across your shoulders messily, anxiety rolling off you in big, monstrous waves. "I'll...I'll explain when we're out of here. We can't stay any longer."

At your sudden words, Inessa finally took a good look at your figure. The various layered jackets pulled tightly around your upper body seemed to be haphazardly thrown on, like you'd been in a frantic rush. Something wild and fearful glinted in your gaze and the knapsack leaning idly on your hip appeared to be stuffed full, so much that the ornate clasp was holding on for dear life.

She nibbled on her bottom lip. Archons, what had gotten you so riled up? Who had gotten you so riled up? She had so many questions, but she knew that you would answer none of them until you two were somewhere you deemed safe.

"...Alright." Inessa agreed hesitantly after a beat of silence, grabbing your hand and giving it a reassuring squeeze. It was bone cold against her warm skin, sending a shiver up her arm and down her spine.

You nodded at her, the smile plastered on your chapped lips taut with paranoia. Carefully, you opened the door, poking your head out of the doorway to survey for any passing groups of Fatui before quickly pulling her out of the room behind you.
