6/10/2004.

"Addie, hurry up!" Niall screamed at me his bleached hair waving in the cold wind.

"Is this such a good idea Ni?" I asked fear coating my heavy irish accent.

"Dont be a pussy Adelaide" He smirked as he continued to the end of the marina. The waves crashed ominously on the platform where we stood.

"Your not scared are you?" He asked me his smirk growing bigger.

"Of corse not!" I scoffed as I rung my trembling hands.

"Then go!" He called pushing me in the freezing water.

"you're such a cunt Niall!" I screamed as I surfaced, my body raked with shivers. "Your turn!" I comanded as he stared down at me. His face suddenly went green with nerves.

"Dont tell me your... Scared?" I asked pausing for effect before cracking up laughing "dont be a pussy!" I mimicked his previous words.

"Of course not" He muttered before jumping. Im not exactly sure what exactly happened after this but I remember Niall being smashed against the concrete pillar by a wave then he went under the water. I remember waking up on the cold hard ground with paramedics swarming around me prodding and pulling at my body. I had asked where Niall was and if he was alright; a few paramedics shared pained looks before an older man turned to me and said "Im sorry love but your best friend is gone now"; his body was found the next day by recovery divers. I had to watch while Maura was told why her son was never coming home. She said she didn't blame me and that it could have happened to anyone but I didnt believe her I knew deep down she blamed me for his death; I made him jump, I killed my best friend! I should have saved him.

Present Day :

I shuddered at the realistic memory. Its like I could reach out and touch him. I looked at a few other dates and I noticed 16/04/2001, the day Niall and I first became friends.

16/04/2001:

"Hey give me back my sandwich!" I screamed as a small boy with mousey brown hair plucked my sandwich from my fingers.

"Make me" He laughed, running as I chased him around the playground. Finally catching him I jumped on his back sending him falling to the ground with me on top.

Letting out a triumphant cry, I retrieved my sandwich from his pale hands and took a huge bite "The names Adelaide" I smiled tearing a piece of and handing it to him.

"My names Niall, you don't sound like your from around here" He replied.

"America, I moved here last week"

"Well Addie I think we are going to be friends" He smiled a crooked smile.

"Best Friends!"

Present Day

Smiling fondly at the memory I continued to cast my eye over the stained page, finally focusing on the day my mum told me I was moving to Bradford.

30/02/2005.

Four months had passed and my friends had turned against me, saying I was a murderer and no one wanted to be friends with a killer! I ran home that night and I cried and cried until my mum came in a together we cried to sleep. Maura also hasn't talked to me; a curt nod as we were passing and a smile that doesn't reach her eyes. I dont blame her, she lost her youngest son at such a young age; we were only 10.
