Seeing Redd

Chapter 1

Beep beep beep beep beep!

I woke up to the sound of my iPhone alarm blaring. I reach out to fumble for the button but I instead swipe the phone onto the floor. I groan as I reach over the side of the bed and feel around for the phone. I feel the phone vibrating and pick it up. I prepare to swipe away the alarm until I read the alarm name:

First Day at Mouse Park

I jump up and squeal with excitement. It's my first day! I got hired to work as Anna from Frozen at Mouse Park! I run over to the vanity mirror and start getting ready. I pull a brush through my wavy brown hair. I got blue tips a few days ago but they wont even be visible under my Anna wig. I run to the bathroom to brush my teeth and put on my makeup. I leave it light and natural looking so that I can add character makeup on top. As soon as I think I look ready I run back to my room to throw on my usual clothes: skinny jeans, a blue hoodie, and my sparkly converse. I head out the door yelling to my mom that I'm leaving and I get into my car to drive to the park. I listen to One Direction the whole way and I sing along with the Best Song Ever. I get there 15 minutes later and start to make my way toward the employee entrance. Theres a tall man with long red hair waving at me from the gate. "Hi! You must be the new girl!" he greets excitedly. I smile at him "yep! That's me!" He smiles back at me. "I'm Ethan! Welcome to Mouse Park!" I grin at him. "Thanks! I'm Bella!"

Ethan leads me in through the door and starts to tell me about the park. "So we use this door to get in through the park, but the guests all come in through the front gate" he says. "I know!" I pipe up "I've been coming to Mouse Park since I was little" I giggle. "Cool! I've always been a big fan of the park too!" Ethan replied. "Which character are you playing?" Ethan tossed his hair dramatically. "I play Prince Reynard" he announced proudly. "Oh cool!" I giggle. "I'm going to be Princess Anna." "Oh awesome I love Frozen!" He continues to show me around the park. He shows me some of the areas like the new Alice in Wonderland themed area and stuff like that. The park hasn't opened yet so there are no guests wandering around yet. I point out to Ethan that the park opens in just over an hour. "OH YEAH!" he shouts "I still need to show you the dressing rooms!" We jog over to a door in the side of a building that is decorated to look like a castle from the outside. He leads me in and the entire building is bustling with activity. There are a dozen different people half dressed in costumes from different movies. I see a girl dressed up like Alice form Alive in Wonderland and Cinderella and Alladin. Ethan leads me to one of the rooms where he says that my costume is being stored. He rushes off to go put on his own costume. I shut the door to the dressing room and walk over to the clothing rack. On the rack I see... two dresses??? one of the dresses has a green skirt and I immediately recognize it as Anna's coronation dress from frozen but the other dress has a deep burgundy top and a blood red skirt with a big red cape. Huh I thonk to myself what character has a red cape? I jump a little as the door to the dressing room swings open. I spin around to see a brunette girl walk in. She's totally focused on her phone and doesn;t even look up at me as she walks in. I sweep my eyes over her quickly taking in her cropped tshirt, black skinny jeans, and red vans. Her brown hair is swept up and pinned back by a claw clip and her bangs make it so I can't see her eyes. Even though I can 't see her eyes I can see that she is very pretty. I feel a blush creep over my cheeks. "Uh... Hi!" I speak up finally. She blinks up at me and looks surprised to see someone else in the room. "Hey." She says back. "I'm Bella!" I say quickly "I just started working here. I guess we're sharing a dressing room!" She raised an eyebrow at me and looks me up and down. My face gets a little redder. "Whatever. I'm Scarlet. Welcome I guess" she says, putting her phone on the counter and dropping her purse next to it. "You don't mind if I change do you." she says casually. I feel my ears go red. "N-no! Of course not! Go ahead" Scarlet gives me a weird look. She walks past me and takes the red dress of the rack. She crosses the room and starts to take off her shirt. I pretend not notice as I change out of my hoodie and pick up my own dress. I watch out of the corner of my eye as Scarlet steps into her dress and pulls it up. I pull my own dress on and walk over to the counter where a pair of wig heads are sitting. One of the wigs is brown with a flower attached to it. The other wig is red and styled into braids and a bun with white streaks. That one is mine. I look into the mirror and wonder how I'm going to be able to fit my long brown hair under the wig. I look over at Scarlet who has put on her dress and shoes already. She walks over and sits down on a chair at the mirror. She's still totally ignoring me. "Hey" I say making her look over at me. "I have no idea how to put this wig on" I amdit nervously. Scarlet raises an eyebrow and laughs a little. "you should just put your hair up and then use a wig cap" she replies. "Here, I can show you." She removed the claw clip from her hair and shook it out. I watched as the dark brown strands tumbled down past her shoulders. Scarlet quickly braids her own hair and clips them up with barrettes. She used barrettes to clip back her bangs too and pulled on a wig cap. I was impressed with how quickly she did this and how easy she made it look. Scarlet picked up her wig and put it on over the wig cap. She messed with it a little and made sure it was straight and smiled at herself in the mirror when she was happy with it. "There. See?" she looks up me with a smirk. I nod and grin. "I have pretty thick hair... could you help me braid it?" Scarlet fixed her sapphire colored eyes on me. "Sure" she says finally. She stands up from the chair and pushes me into it. I fight a blush as Scarlet runs her fingers through my hair separating it into sections. She starts to braid it humming some melody under her breath. "You have pretty hair" she tells me. I turn bright red "Thank you!" I can see her smile in the mirror behind me. Scarlet finishes braiding my hair and clips the braids against my head the way she did her own. Then she helped me make sure the wig was on straight. "Great. See you out there Anna" she says winking at me. She pulled on the big red cloak from the rack and picks up a basket from the floor next to the rack. She walked out of the door and closes it behind her, leaving me to watch her quietly. Oh! I think. The red cloak and the basket! She's Red Riding Hood! I continue to get ready as Anna and I keep thinking about the other actress. I think that I'll have to ask about her later.
