"The real enemy"

Third Person Pov

Jennie doesn't know how long she was sitting, barely breathing or whether the sun has already gone to sleep. The second the woman told her she'll make her experience hell, a hard swing swished in the air and she felt an incredible pain in the back of her head. Knocking her out on the process. When she regains her consciousness, she notices the dry blood on the side of her face.

There were no guards inside the room, instead of giving attention to her pain, her first thought was to look for her best friend. Irene was on the same spot, Jennie's lips moved, open and close as she witness the woman struggle to breathe. "Irene, Irene" she called weakly.

Hearing her best friend, Irene tried to lift her head, she groan as it ache. Jennie's tears swam beneath her eyes. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry," she mumbles, shakily. She wants to run and embrace the woman. If it wasn't for her, her best friend wouldn't be here. Jennie sobbed more when the older woman shook her head slowly.

"They took our people. I don't know where or what they did to them." It was inaudible at first but Jennie leisurely understood, she cranked her head where the people were supposed to be. Irene was telling the truth. They're gone.

"What they have done to you..." Jennie murmurs, feeling the worst for her best friend, for everyone. She bowed her head and sobbed.

"They want something I can't give to them," Irene replied, by the skin of one's teeth.

"What do they want?"

"They want you, Jennie. They want all of us gone." Irene whimpered. From the pain of her wounds, and for the stake of their people.

"I hated her before, I hate her more now," Irene added, making Jennie avert her eyes to where she is. The younger one was in question when she heard Irene chuckle, it was not the sarcastic one, but more bitter.

"I thought she was just this bitch who stole a kiss from me, pester the whole night at the party. It turns out she's more than an asshole. She's a cunning, and soulless devil. I never saw her as one before, when you said she's the only one who approached you when you're with Lisa. I almost consider her the kindest of them all when she helped you and Chaeyoung to see her son." Jennie bit her lower lip where she could taste her blood.
