A FRIEND OF A FRIEND
"We need to promote out club." Kyouka declared, making her clubmates look at her.
"We need a change." she added as her friend, Lorcan, looked at her blankly.
"And how will we do that? Giving fliers definitely won't work, Kyo. We're just gonna add work for the janitors."
"Yes but.." the said person sighed, ".. we can't just stay here, sitting in our club room, doing nothing. AND we might get debanded soon if all we do is look for missing items."
"But there's no other cases but missing school bags and books.. We can't do anything about that.." another member of the club, Berian, said slowly. "Oh."
The two looked at her when she suddenly spoke in realization, Berian went near them as if she was about to say something hideous, "The murder last, last week about Mr. William—"
"No, I'm remembering it again." Lorcan closed his eyes and looks like he's trying to forget some disturbing image, "And that's impossible. The police definitely won't let us, some mere students, investigate something so vital."
"That's because not a lot of people know about our detective club. They don't know what we're capable of! That's why..!" Kyouka stood up as she continued, "That's why we have to promote our club!"
Berian looks as if she was interested at whatever her president was planning, while Lorcan looks like he's trying to think if this is worth something.
"It seems like you're quite fond of that idea so fine." Lorcan finally gave up, leaving all his negative thoughts.
"Perfect! We lack members in our club and we don't do much work. If we promote our club, we might start getting tons of applying papers and cases! Two birds in one stone!" Kyouka clapped as she stated.
"But.. I do have no idea on how to promote our club.." a change of tone in her voice making her clubmates sigh, "But that's why I told you two. Maybe you guys have some ideas..?"
"First of all, I'm not.. really the kind of person who socialize much. And, I definitely have no other ideas." Kyouka frowned at Lorcan's statement making him raise his hands in defeat, muttering a small 'sorry'.
Kyouka turned to Berian in hope she would have an idea, and with that, "I know a friend from the Literature club. They've told me that they know someone from the Newspaper club which can help us promote our club."
"Hm.. That's right." Lorcan agreed, thinking it was a nice idea, "Quite a lot of people read the school newspaper. And the professor who died was also revealed by the newspaper."
"Speaking of that, it was because the Newspaper club has the city police as their backup. So they'll never get debanded. Even if there's like, only two members in their club." Berian explained.
"Wow, that's.." Kyouka looked at Beri, stunned, "So they're big time. How are we gonna convince them about helping us, they're like veterans."
"Wait so we'll ask your friend to ask THEIR friend, who is a professional, to help us?" Lorcan asked Beri.
"Mhm.. It is kind of like that.." Berian also hesitated at saying so, not wanting to disturb her friend and her friend's friend.
"But we do have no choice. Ask for a friend or fliers, which one do you think is effective?" he laughed at what he said, making Berian snicker as well.
"I'll try to bring my friend here tomorrow." she said, making Kyouka and Lorcan smile at her.
"Sounds like a plan."
⚘
"I can't believe our school newspaper club is holding such power." Kyouka said as her, Lorcan, and Lorcan's cousin named Kajiro, walked towards the cafeteria.
"The newspaper club? You haven't heard yet?" Kaji told the two, making them look at him.
"What do you mean?"
"You've heard of the troublesome friend group, right?"
"You mean Pentagon? Those good-for-nothing idiots." Lorcan said, making Kyo squint an eye at him because he said that with very much spite.
"Yeah, them. One of them just got expelled. The newspaper revealed that he was the one who broke Professor Jeremiah's car." Kajiro explained.
"What? Who's the one expelled?"
"Marianne's boyfriend. Caldwell." Kaji said as he deadpans, not really caring about whatever misfortune Pentagon was going through, "He deserved that. He's a bastard."
"You know what, this is why we're cousins." Lorcan told him, making him laugh as Kyo just thought about why Cadwell have done such a petty thing.
"Why are you making such accusations?!"
When the three arrived at the entrance of the cafeteria, they just heard a feminine voice shout. People in the cafeteria were looking at one table, where a lady was sitting, looking at the girl who just shouted at her, Zhycheah. Cadwell's sister.
"Everything you wrote here is fake! But because of you, my brother got expelled!!" agitated Zhycheah shouted again but to her surprise, the person she was screaming at laughed like she just said something humorous.
"Because of me? Oh honey, your brother was the one who did that to himself." she answered with much sass, as if she was talking to someone so immature.
"You have no proof of your fake accusation!"
"You don't know who you're talking to." Zhycheah's eyes twitched in anger at the lady's unbothered expression and words.
"I'm gonna report you for false information!" she cried, as the lady sitting looked at her in either pity or sarcasm.
"Instead of some useless threats, you should just thank me for not involving all your asses in my report or you'll all be gone by now." Zhycheah looked at her with wide eyes, So she knows?! She thought before clicking her tongue and rushing out of the cafeteria.
The lady chuckled before nodding at the people in there, also leaving after gathering her things.
"That was.. something.." Lorcan said, processing the drama that just happened.
Kyouka was looking at the direction Zhycheah just took before speaking, "The girl Zhycheah argued with, she's part of the newspaper club, right?"
Kaji looked both amused and confused, "How do you not know Ruaviv? She's one of the two members of the newspaper club."
"Two members?? How in the world is their club alive—" Lorcan came to sudden realization, "Oh right. City police."
"So she's the.." Kyouka suddenly felt a little nervous about the plan of asking them to promote the Detective club because they were quite intimidating.
"But looking back, that Ruaviv lady whispered something to Zhycho that made her run away like she just saw a ghost. She looked so confident earlier." Lorcan stated after they settled down on a table.
Kajiro laughed at the nickname he just gave Zhycheah.
