You wake up by the sound of plates shattering into pieces. Looking at the clock, you see that is still night so you panic. You slowly get out of the bed as you take your baseball stick in your hands and open then door slowly in order not to make some noise. You slowly go down the stairs terrified to face the burglar, only to be meet by your step brother Jay, sitting in the kitchen table eating cake. You spot the broken plate on the floor near him and you sigh, as you lower the stick. "What the hell are you doing awake at this hour?" you ask him as he gives you a look. "I am eating cake, can't you see?" he says as he takes a piece and looks at you. "Want some?" he says and you give him a lifted eyebrow. "No thanks. Be careful next time you scared me to death" you say as he nods and you roll your eyes as tou go to pick up the broken plate from the floor. As you pick a piece you cut your finger slightly and you let out a hiss, letting the plate down. "Woah, are you ok?" Jay sits up and comes to check on you. "Come here, let me see" he says as he takes your hand to his and sees the cut. "It's a small scratch I am fine" you say as you pull your finger and go to wash it to the sink. "Do you need any help with that?" Jay says as you wrap a cold towel around your bleeding finger. "No, I am fine thanks. Come on, let's go to sleep before mom and dad wakes up" you say as you start to go upstairs. "So annoying.." you think as you go to your room.
You lay down on the bed and take your phone to text your best friend Yuna. Just as you are about to text her, Jay enters your room with a look of guilt. "What is it?" you ask him as you sit up on the bed with your phone in your hands. "Can I ask you something?" Jay says as he sits on your bed and you give him a nod. "Why do you hate me so much?" he asks and you are taken aback. "Woah there, I never said that I hate you. It's just that I am not used to having a sibling so, it's hard for me to get along " you explain as Jay's eyes lit up. "Wow that's a relief. I mean I get that it must be really hard but I really care for you Y/N. Also, sorry about the cut earlier" he says as your gaze softens. "It's fine don't worry about it. And I am sorry too if I snapped" you say, feeling guilty for being so harsh on him. Jay smiles at you and you somehow seem to relax a bit. He walks towards your bed and sit down next to you as you put your phone on your desk next to your bed. "Is this really the reason why? You are not used to have a sibling or there is something more tho?" Jay suddenly asks and you can feel your face heat up as you look at him.
It would be a lie if you say you don't find Jay attractive. The way he smiles and laughs everytime he is happy, his warm eyes, his sharp jawline. Everything about him is perfect. You can't help but having a small crush on him but hou will never admit it. Ever. "Just that ok? Stop saying stupid things" you say and you grab your phone to scroll through instagram as you avoid his gaze. You cannot let anyone know about your crush on Jay, especially not Jay himself. But his next words make you freeze in your spot. "You are not getting away with this so easily babygirl" he says as he smirks and leaves your room, closing the door behind him. You stay there, trying to understand what just happened. "What did he call me?" you think as you are screaming inside cause of both excitement and panic. You lay on your bed and scream on your pillow.
For the next few days, you try to ignore Jay as much as possible. But, you still observing him from afar, trying to understand if he truly likes you or if he is just messing around. Everytime he catches you looking at him you turn away, failing to see a visible smirk forming on his face. You try not to think much of it so you distract yourself by going out or studying. One night, your friend Matt throws a party at his place so you spend hours getting ready for it. After you are done doing your make up, you go downstairs to find Jay opening the door. "Going to the party I see" he says with a smile. "You look amazing" he compliments with a blush on his face. You smile as you thank him and walk out with him following behind you. "You are not so bad yourself either" you say as you look down on your feet. He smiles as you continue walking together in silence. After talking and laughing for a couple of minutes you arrive at Matt's house as you ring the bell waiting for him to open. But when the door opens you don't see Matt but Jake smiling at you with his famous gummy smile. "Hey guys! Come in!" he says as he steps aside for you to enter. Jay being the gentleman he is lets you walk in first with him following, receiving a teasing smile from Jake. "I'll go find Matt, catch up with you later guys" you say and you run to the kitchen.
Two hours into the party and you already feel dizzy because of the alchohol you have consumed already. You try to walk but your vision is blury amd your eye sight weak. Suddenly, you feel a pair of arms holding you as you turn around to realize it's Matt. "Hey..." you say smiling to him as you try to keep your balance. "Hey, are you ok?" he says as he leads you to the bedroom and lays you down. "Hmm" you say as you relax in the soft mattress. Suddenly, you feel a pair of arms travelling all over your body and then wet kisses leaving your skin. You try to understand what's going on since you are still dizzy from before. "W-what are you doing?" you sound weak as you have no energy at all. "Shh, don't worry you are gonna feel better I promise" then it hits you and you shoot your eyes open as you try to get Matt off of you. "Matt stop" you try to say but he is not listening. "Matt!" you shout but he continues kissing you all over your body. Just as you are about to push him away, someone grabs him and shoves him to the wall with murder in his eyes. You stand up to see Jay holding Matt by his colar and Jake coming to your side holding you tight. "Come on Y/N, let's go" Jake says as he leads you out. "Are you ok?" you turn to Jay who's looking at you while holding Matt by his shirt. You nod and mouth a small "thank you" before leaving the room with Jake.
You sit on a bench outside the house, waiting for Jay so you can go home. "Are you ok?" Jake says in a soft tone as he rubs your back. You nod and you bury your face to his neck, relieved that nothing happened. "Where is Jay?" you ask as you look at the time. "So whipped.." Jake laughs and you chuckle. "Yeah, I g-guess" you say in a soft tone as you hide your face because of the embarrasment. Jake laughs as he speaks. "You know there is nothing wrong with it right? Relax, besides I knew it from the beginning. You both are not good at hiding your feelings" he says as you look at him. "Wait, do you say Jay....likes likes me?" you ask as he facepalm himself. "Duh? Of course he does. Why else do you think he called you babygirl? And yes I know that too he told me. He obviously likes you. He is just not the best, when it comes to words you know" Jake explains as you stay there shocked. Before you say anything, you hear footsteps behind you and you both turn around to see Jay coming towards you. You get up and punch him lightly in the chest. "Idiot, why did you let me hate you while you liked me?" you say as Jay looks at you in shock then gives Jake a death glare. "I'll let you guys talk" Jake says as he runs out before Jay literally murders him. Jay sighs and turms to you, who now have tears in your eyes. "I am sorry Y/N. I am really sorry I didn't tell you before how I am feeling. I guess I was afraid i mean you are my sister, our parrnts are married. I was afraid I will destroy the family if I let my feelings for you take control. That's why I kept on teasing you, it was a way for me to keep my emotions in check. I know I suck at this but please please forgive me" Jay says as he pulls you in for a hug. You smile as you hug him back and say "I love you Jay" loud enough for him to hear. He looks at you shocked before you laugh and pull him in for a kiss.
It is your first kiss with him and it feels just like you had imagined. His lips are soft against yours, he is gentle, he is caring towards you. He breaks the kiss first and stares at you. "I am sorry for not telling you before. I wasn't sure if you liked me too and I am just not the luckiest when it comes to relationships" he explains as he holds you in his arms. "I can relate to that" you say with a soft smile. "But I promise I'll never leave you Y/N. I will always be by your side no matter what" Jay says as you pull him in for a kiss. "Sames goes for me" you whisper as you stare at his beautiful eyes. And at that moment, you both know that you were made for each other. That you are and always will be soulmates.
