VANCE HOPPER

I heard ringing it was the phone. On the wall. I picked it up it was my dad. Cursing at me but why? I thought then I heard a noise behind me. Who's there? I tried to yell but nothing came out of my mouth. Just then he grabbed me.

I woke up in a dead sweat, "shit I'm gonna be late" I thought.  Not that I necessarily cared about school I just couldn't miss anymore school or my dad would beat me again. I rushed out of the house and pretty much ran to school so he wouldn't get a call that I was late. When I arrived I sat in my seat I forgot I even had. I saw Bruce and finney. Finney was messing with his spaceship flashlight thing he had. And bruce...was staring at me, mostly at my lips and or nose. "You got a staring problem yamada?!" I cursed. "No no no, I'm sorry vance" He quickly apologized. "Right."I mumbled under my breath. I have to admit it made me a bit red learning he was staring my lips. I couldn't help but blush a little. And it seemed the school shit heads noticed.

AFTER SCHOOL

I walked out of school and the James (James, Tommy, and Ted are the school shitheads I can't think of any better names I'm sorry 🙏🏽)  pushed me. "F@ggot" He said to me. Now everyone was staring. "The fuck you just say to me?" I said raising my tone. "Your a f@g" He said and shrugged Ted seemed visibly frightened because he was trying to get Tommy to shut up. I grabbed Tommy by the collar and pushed him to the ground as Ted grabbed onto my arm but I elbowed him in the face. "Call me a f@ggot again and see what happens motherfucker." I spat. He said it over and over again after I said that so I punched him in the face. Over and over again. Until a teacher pushed me off of him and told me to go home, I was having fun honestly.  I went walking home the place I dreaded the most. I could hear someone behind me. I looked behind me. It was bruce. "What do you want?" I asked not so calmly. I was pissed and nervous. He sped up and walked next to me. Bruce said something I didn't hear him tho I was lost in a thought.  Maybe he was right? Maybe I am a faggot. I don't take a big attraction to girls and I never really have I don't know why. I was taken out of that thought when I felt bruce shaking me. "Are you okay vance?" He said sweetly. It made my stomach twirl. "I'm fine dumbass now leave me alone baseball boy" I said to him. "Oh. Uh I'm sorry, I just wanted to see if you needed help with your fist." He said quietly as he walked away from me. I'm such an idiot I always do that to people who care. Maybe he could have been my savior so I didn't have to go to this abusive house I lived in. I didn't respond to him I was already home by the time I got out of my thoughts. No saviors now.

AT VANCES HOUSE

I walked in the house and shut the door trying to be quiet.  "VANCE GET YOUR ASS IN HERE!" My dad yelled making me flinch. I walked to him. "Yes dad?" I asked. "The fuck did you do to your hand?" He spat at me. "I uh got into a fight." I said softly not wanting to arouse his anger and make him beat me. He always does it until I'm either begging and apologizing or I'm too weak to keep screaming "STOP PLEASE". "Of course you did now get your gay ass and get me another goddamm beer" He said. "But you don't hav-" I began to say with a slight attitude.  "The hell did you say?" He said getting up and taking off his belt. "Nothing dad I'm sorry." I said even though I already knew what was coming. He pushed me hard to the floor and began hitting me with his belt. "ONE OF THESE DAYS YOU'LL LEARN HOW TO SPEAK TO ME!" He yelled and continued on. "PLEASE DAD IM SORRY I REALLY AM I PROMISE ILL NEVER DO IT AGAIN PLEASE" I greatly apologized and he still continued for what felt like aged but was really 30 minutes. After that he grabbed me and forced me into my room and the he hit me one more time on the face this time. "Now everyone will fucking know you speak to your father that way." He said. As he walked away he kept cussing. I just closed the door and began to sob. Later I fell asleep.
