Saturday.
third person POV.
you were getting ready to go to one of Finney's baseball games, it was already an hour in 12 minutes in but you were sure he wouldn't mind if you showed up late, as long as you came he wouldn't mind. you were unsure of what to wear but you put a red cute tank top on and threw on some flare leg jeans, along with a belt.
you made yourself some breakfast, seeing not one of your parents were home but at work, and you were already late but still had 45 minutes left until the game ended.
you ate your Eggo waffles and then rushed to your bathroom to brush your teeth. you put your covergirl mascara on but it was so poor because you've had it for a while, you added the slightest amount of lipgloss. you didn't want to overuse it.
you rush out of your house, afraid to be any later than you already were.-timeskip <33-
Y/N's POV.
I finally arrive at the baseball field where I see the teams getting ready for their last and final game. I walk up to Donna and her friends and I tap on her shoulder, she turns around with a smile. Donna and I are friends but we don't really talk as much, only in class. "oh, hi Y/N!" Donna spoke. she was kind. "hello Donna! how are we doing so far?" I look past her head pointing to the field. "not too bad, haha! Finney is actually about to start pitching anytime soon!" she smiles and looks at me. "oh, okay! thank you, I'll see you at school" I walk past her, to go sit on the bleachers with Gwen as I look back and wave at her."Y/N, hey!" Gwen says, bringing her attention to me, patting the seat next to her, and then bringing her attention back to the baseball field. "come on, Finney. Come on!" Gwen, her friends and I start cheering for him— aswell as others. Finney notices me sitting on the bleachers and gives a soft smile and waves. I wave back. he then brings his attention back to the batter. Bruce.. Bruce Yamada. he's so dreamy. God, all the girls love him. "you got this Finney!" I cheer.
he brings the ball back and pitches it towards Bruce. strike 1. "yes, Finney! nice!" scattered compliments come around for him. "let's go, Finney, two more strikes." his teammate says as he throws the ball back for Finney to pitch again.
he pitches again, another strike. "yes!" we cheer, once again. there seems to be a lot of bad tension between Bruce and Finney. but I can see Finney trying to avoid by looking at Donna. they're cute. Bruce looks mad, but that soon changes once his bat hits the ball Finney pitches. "oh no, oh no." we lose the game.
Bruce's name is being chanted over and over, I lay my head on my fist, as my arms on my leg.
Finney looks disappointed but looks at me and sees I look disappointed, which I'm not, but I soon smile and give him a big thumbs up. he laughs.
after a while, they all walk around, congratulating one another. and I notice Bruce and Finney talking. "hey, dude. man, your arm is mint." Bruce spoke. "you almost had me." he smiles, aswell as Finney, they walk away saying "good game." to each other.Finneys walks over to me, the only one on the bleachers, as Gwen and her friends already left, along with Donna and hers. "nice game Finney, I'm proud of you!" he smiles slightly. "could've done better." he's upset. "hey, don't stress it! you did your best and that's all that matters." he nods and smiles. "let me walk you home, thank you for coming." I laugh slightly. "of course! anything for my best friend. hey, I saw you looking at Donna." I shove him lightly. "shut up!" he laughs. "haha!"
"let's meet up tomorrow?" he asks. "of course."Sunday.
Y/N's POV
I was walking to the baseball field, where Finney asked for me to meet him. I walked pass a couple of kids I knew from school, some peers. I saw Bruce and waved hi but he waved me over.
"Y/N, hey! thanks for coming to the game yesterday." he says, stopping his bike. "hey Bruce! no problem! you and your team did real good!" I smile. "thanks! uhh, where ya off to?"
"the baseball field haha, I'm meeting Finney there! what about you?" I ask him back. "just riding around town I guess!" he laughs looking down at his bike. "well, I'll catch you later, wouldn't want to make you late, bye Y/N!" he smiles, riding away. "bye, Bruce..! he's so dreamy.."
