Overall, the cause of the fire was Dream who was jealous of Techno. Dream panicked when Wilbur spotted Him on the way back from the party and chased Him into the forest. In a panic, Wilbur slipped and managed to kill himself and Dream buried the body.
He used his connections with George to cover up anything that could link the incident to him, So the news had nothing on him.
The reason why S.B.I are in the house and can't seem to leave is more like an unfinished business kind of thing, the moment they are brought to justice they can fade peacefully.
Tommy and Tubbo would eventually figure out with clues and stuff and the s.b.i's memories start to get worse. Dream who is afraid of the truth coming out and ruining everything decides to take things into his own hands and threaten the boys.
Ranboo and Tubbo become closer and it's through him they manage to access the unchanged documents and articles and finally piece everything Together. [Ranboo is a part time journalist who worked at the same company as George]
Dream dms Tommy because he is wary that s.b.i would manage to tell him the truth and he wants to try and distract and keep an eye on him.
Since Tommy trusted Dream So much before, he had quite a lot to threaten him with. Eret was gonna be like a red hearing and was just there by coincidence.
And there would be a bit more filler and finally branching for the good ending and the bad ending.
